Thanks. Yeah it works well. I just need some help to make a buffered version so that it can mix signals as well as split them.

You should indeed get somebody to make these. They look much better and more usable than the one linked above. Using a pin matrix and having all the inputs/outputs on the back, does make everything more orderly. If they can also multiply signals, then that could really be a winner.

I sold a lot of my guitar pedals to finance eurorack modules, but a few remains, and some of them I use with the modular.

Regarding looping I do like to use Ableton a lot, since I’m hooked up to my MacBook anyways. So hardware wise I use a Ditto looper as a main looper with really great audio quality and loop length. In addition to this I run a Boss DD6 in front of it in HOLD mode, which produce some stuttery effects (one of my favourite guitar tricks). I’m experimenting with using my eurorack Morphagene as a overdub looper aswell. It has been well covered here I know, but apart from the Morphagene the other devices is hard to sync, so I think they’re more suited to make ambient soundscapes, textures, pling plongs and drones than looping full melodies and voices (I rather use Ableton and sequencers to do this). I see a lot of cool loopers in this thread and I totally see the use of a multi track, syncable loop station - especially with a more minimalistic and immidiate setup. The Boomerang looks awesome

The Timefactor looper looks great, certainly better than the Timeline’s, but not being able to also use the delay is a complete deal breaker for me. Being able to switch between using the looper pre and post delay on the Timeline will be very useful for the type of music I like to make.

I used to have one and loved it for a several years…may pick one up again one day. BUT if you get one, you should get a multiswitch to access reverse, half speed, and undo-redo. The delays sound great.

I think though that the looper was a bonus that turned into a main feature. Switching into it is sometimes cumbersome and some options are hidden in the global menu, like looper level and looper location.

@Jonny My general thought process is that I definitely want a more fully featured delay and want to try a looper. If I end up wanting to use the looper a lot and feel hampered I might get a dedicated looper, but if I don’t loop often I still have an awesome delay.

I think you’ll love it.

On the topic of semi-hardware live looping…

I just finished the first version of this little guy for a class

I wrote a paper about it and I’m planning on open-sourcing it soon. Powered by USB and Arduino, it’s got an LED ring for loop position and a super quiet and sensitive trigger button

Hm your image is missing for some reason.

oops, should be there now, thanks

Cool  Would be interested in reading the paper on it

Might see it on the NIME website this summer if I’m lucky  Otherwise I’ll probaly stick it up on my website at some point when I’m ready to make the build docs

I’ve been experimenting with the Organelle using Overloop and I Take Up. Both seem like they could quench my need for a separate looper. Although, it does make me want a second Organelle.

This looks like it could be the holy grail of hardware loopers:

oh wow

Am I the only person who wishes loopers like this had an effects send/return (just one)? I guess that is what Ableton is for.

Yeah, that belongs in the ā€œsoftware loopersā€ thread we haven’t started yet

But this box looks ideal for combining with a small desktop modular system. You could easily play a whole set with just that.

whoa. I’m definitely a sucker for Reggie Watts demos, though.

It’s definitely the ultimate looper and if I could carry more gear for stage use (I have too much already) I would seriously consider buying it. It basically has everything I wish there was on big sized hardware looper (that I can think of right now) and the layout isn’t even that bad or tasteless which is bonus!

Yeah I always though the RC-505 would be kind of cool but I can’t stand the look of it. This one is actually pretty elegant, and very restrained for an EHX design!

for the software thread…

karma~ rocks :grinning:
