will check. Also the recorded audio has a lot of clicks and pops.

Yep. Still has the same issue when booting into Izzy. A lot of noise along with my sound source and her voice. This occurs when it asks me to plug in an audio source and record. Makes going to the next step almost impossible. When starting regularly, the recorded audio has a lots of pops and clicks.

Howdy all, just picked up a W/ second hand. Everything was groovy for the first day, rearranged my case and now the W/ is not powering on

Other modules in case are fine. Tried a few different supplies. When I click on power I see a quick LED blip on the right side “loop” LED and then nothin’
Checked orientation of cables etc.

New to W/ so if I am missing something any help would be killer. :v:

I believe there have been a few posts in this thread above about his same issue. Seemed like swapping out the old SD card for a new one did the trick. I also had this issue last week after getting a new case. I took the SD card out and did the ole blow on the cartridge trick. Then popped it back in and it worked good as new.

I also might consider trying out the new beta firmware and keeping an eye out for the final 2.0. I’m running one w/ on the current 1.2 and one w/ on the 2.04b, and the new beta is much more stable and with a lot more features.

try running it in izzy or bootloader mode. should work fine and would probably update to the latest beta firmware as well. had the same problem last month.

Hi all, wondering if I could get a second opinion on diagnosis of an issue with my w/…

I have a module from an early batch and never had any issues with it previously. Successfully upgraded to firmware v1.2.1 back in late 2018, and used happily since then. My modular sat unused for a few months recently though and when I came back to it I noticed the w/ was just giving a brief white flash above loop on bootup, but it otherwise appeared dead. I tried the various solutions suggested upthread and in the WR FAQ (inc. clearing the tape on boot, checking SD card was in place properly, etc) but without success, so proceeded to update firmware (latest beta). The update procedure appeared to work fine, got the blinking lights/animation as expected, but now after update procedure it just returns to a non-working state with the orange record light repeatedly blinking three times. Tried the update a few times but remains the same.

On the basis of this - I am concluding the SD card just needs replacing now? Would that be accurate based on others experience?

If so, can anyone suggest a replacement card, preferably available in Canada? Have been searching various online retailers for a 4gb (or 8gb) class10 card (as suggested by WR), but struggling to find anything suitable. Seems SD capacities are getting bigger, and the smaller sizes don’t seem to as easy to find… any assistance appreciated!

I use 16gb card (Sandisk Ultra) without problems with beta firmware.

The thing you link to says to remove the SD card and then put it back in the w/, not necessarily that there is an SD card failure. I would recommend following those instructions first before trying anything else.

Then I would suggest updating to w/2 — numerous SD card failures are solved with the new firmware, and it’s basically out of beta with documentation forthcoming! [Also I am under the impression that the new firmware will be less picky about what SD card you use, but I am less certain about this…]

Yep, you’re right… that link I posted is a little misleading. I think I had meant to reference this from the WR github wiki.

As the cards age they may need to be replaced (think guitar strings, saxophone reeds, or drum sticks)

Either way, yes I’ve tried taking the card in and out numerous times to make sure it’s seated correctly. No luck though. Still just get the orange rec light blinking three times – even after attempting to update to the latest W/2 beta – which leads me to believe there is something up with the card itself.

Edit: just to circle back on this issue for the record, I switched out the card for a new one (Sandisk Ultra 16gb), reinstalled the beta firmware and I’m back in business. Happy days…

Hey people i’ve just received a W/ brand new today, i’m struggling to let it works…
i tried a couple of combos for switching modes but it seems unresponsive, i’ve just been able let blink in white play/rec/loop respectively booting it up in izzy mode …

I’m lost atm … help

do you know what version of the firmware you’re running? i would suggest updating to the current beta as things are much more stable there than in the v1 firmware.

Nope I don’t know, I thought it would be the 1.2 as it’s brand new?
I thought it was better to start with v1 to learn it a lil bit, but I’ll follow your advice, I’m going to update now for sure…

I’ll post an update  Thanks!

By “modes” do you mean W/syn or W/del? The current production release (v1.2.1) doesn’t have the modes that were introduced in the still-beta W/2; it’s just the tape functionality.

@tenenmatt By modes i mean Live/Nav/Cue

@Justmat I’ve uploaded the beta firmware and it’s gone everything ok, but nothing happens after it, it’s normal i can’t get any light at first? Seems i’m not able to do nothing eheh…

try pressing rec + play + loop (in that order) and hold them until lights above the toggle start blinking. (should be about 2 seconds)

if that works, you will be able to select what mode to play in. press loop for delay mode, play for synth mode, or rec for tape mode. then flick down on the toggle to load into the selected mode.

check out the first few posts of the beta thread for in-depth info about operating the different modes.

Thanks for the advice! But no lights unfortunately pressing rec/play/loop :frowning: , it’s so strange?

@alanza Thanks, i hope to let this baby works in general before posting there, actually seems the module acts the same in both firmware…

i’d say that sounds like a case for service@whimsicalraps.com!

The words i didn’t want to hear … thanks a lot anyway!

Update: After a long firmware pin-pong procedure, the lights went up on v1.2.1!
The only different thing i tried it’s been to power up the module pressing rec&down together, as i read here in the topic to try it, but actually i’ve done it when v2 was flashed and nothing happened, then i flashed v1.2.1 and the module woke up …
I think i’ll wait at least 24h before tryi to flash v2 again, at least i’ll use it a lil bit now

So… just received my W/ and installed 2.0 beta. I did not look for TT commands before doing so, but now I am and not really finding any. I am seeing more Crow integration. Is there a place with the current TT commands or are they non-existent as of now?

Thank you.
