Crow is a pretty short path to that closure

It’s funny that this system is like, hm, 10x or 12x the compute power of aleph. Does more stuff but much of that headroom goes towards making things more accessible / dynamic. (I mean also can do more stuff at once, dont get me wrong. But limitations are cool)

Still thinking about aleph firmwares.

Me too. I’ve leveled up a bit in firmware understanding now that I’m working with people that write flight control software where timing is crucial. Building good dev environments to make small, fast computers easy to program is def the cutting edge. I’d love to do a story session sometime.

Testing jet engines isn’t that far from our weird computer music adventures.

I am doing a performance (my first modular performance yelp) on Saturday, and have built up this piece around the crow first script. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks

Excellent, thank you! I didn’t realise it was a new mode rather than the run modes, exciting.

Not new! Been around for a long time now, but previously only accessible via Teletype!

Just received my crow.
I’ve read it somewhere else, but the distance between the 2 mounting holes is just too big. I can’t mount it in my case. (well, not without some struggle).

I also had this problem…they don’t quite line up.

It’s a bit frustrating and feels like a hiatus with the whole “monome minimalism”. Already had an issue with the teletype before.

The fit was fine for me. Which case are you using? I’m using an MDR case.

Mine’s a Roland SYR-E84. I got it to fit eventually, but I think one of the screws is probably slightly angled.

Felt that way for me too. Had to really torque the nuts. Also only fitted in the ”other side” of my doepfer case - I wanted it at the edge of the row.

Three different cases. Won’t fit. Or hardly.
Fits well in a Pulplogic lunchbox.

Hmm, that’s odd. Not sure what’s going on there.

Check to see if your rails are tilted; a lot of modules these days have extra-large holes that tolerate slightly out-of-alignment rails.

Mounted against a w/, the holes are not aligned.

That’s not it, several of us have had issues and with different cases. To clarify, this is an issue with the vertical distance, not an issue with the 2 rails having holes that line up horizontally.

Same here. I tried to loosen the rails so they could have a bit more freedom to accept modules, but no luck in the Intellijel Performance case.

i’m sorry to hear about the mounting trouble. we’d tested on numerous cases and believed the measurements on the plans were right— the shop could’ve messed it up (ie, hole too small)— i’ll check the designs again.

Just thought I’d put this out here too:

Crow needs washers to fit within my 4ms Pod 60 (powered version)

Have setup the pod to include the following modules:

ALM Busy Circuits Squid Salmple, 2HP and Pamela’s new workout and gonna add a W/.

This sits next to norns and is a pretty competent lil setup

Can upload a pic later of how crow sits

How did you get a crow in a pod 60? seems like it would stick up at least 1/2". Would love to see a pic of how you did it, sounds like a fun little rack!
