You will not get polyphony out of a single MONOtron but a quick google search turns up quite a few mod tutorials to get pitch and gate cv into the little thing. It would likely be best to solder leads from those ground and cv pads to a 3.5mm jack so that you could plug and unplug a patch cable rather than hard wiring.

One thing to know (please someone correct me if I’m wrong) is that crow needs a power supply to function. There are some usb midi to cv projects out there that use the usb power (such as the mutable cv pal) if you’re only trying to add midi control to your monotron rather than dive into modular.

Sounds like a fun project either way!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if crow is black anodised aluminium?

@Galapagoose

Yes, it is. And custom-milled, too!

Great, thanks for that.

Have there been production runs for new Crows where the screw hole alignment issue has been fixed?

Thanks!

new crows have fixed alignment

any way to fix my original?

I very gently filed the holes on my original production run crow ever so slightly with a rat-tail jewelers file and then dabbed the inside of the hole with a sharpie to disguise the exposed raw aluminum that no one will ever see anyway… It is doable but I cannot say that this practice is officially supported.

(I urge caution as this can make some conductive metal filings that could short connections on the board if you do not clear them, specifically the fine pin pitch on the micro controller chip)

It may be possible to find panel screws which allow for some misalignment due to their undercuts.

Hey nice people I’ve just received ^^

It’s just me, or it’s been re-styled in some way? it’s always been matte? I remember a brushed black panel…

yeah the panel looks different depending on the batch
can’t recall if it was ever explained

Thanks!
I’ve jumped around here looking for something about it, but I couldn’t find it actually …
Very excited btw

hi i’m considering altering my world and getting a crow - wondering is it possible to send cv from crow into norns in the means of midi to then map to parameters within the norns atmosphere?

you can certainly do this with some very simple scripting, but it’s not something that’s possible via menus alone.

 well that’s hopeful, curious how i would go about doing something like that?

2 main options

go thru the tutorial guides

or

look at how others have linked crow and norns in their scripts

ahhh that first link has plenty of info to keep me occupied while contemplating a crow - thank you!

Have a crow on the way and cruised around the git page - audio rate ASL output on the roadmap?? I assume this probably wouldn’t be high quality audio, right?

Also, a friend was asking if OPZ MIDI > USB > i2c > JF was possible and I think the answer is yes? But I didn’t find reference to midi in the crow scripting reference. I did see the issue raised in git but couldn’t parse the commands needed to achieve the use case above.

Crow identifies as a USB serial device, not a USB MIDI host, so it is not possible to hook MIDI devices directly to it.

With crow being able to convert CC to voltage, would it be relatively easy to create CC with a m4L plugin (thinking of Suzuki Kentaro’s amazing LFO’s), then have crow distribute it to my modular? In addition to all the other things it can do, seems like a space-efficient way to do what expert sleepers stuff could do? Or is this a mischaracterization?
