Well it’s not perfect but it will do for now. I have one domestic flight next month and then an international flight in February. This Pelican 1525 is carry-on ready and comes in at 21.4 lbs. it’s currently holding my MOTU Traveler, MacBook Pro 13”, Sensel Morph, SoftStep, Norns, and mic pre along with cables and power supplies.

This looks great, just ordered one. Should keep things nice and snug in a backpack!

What’s the (DIY?) mic pre?

Not DIY. It’s just the Rolls Mini Mic-pre. It’s pretty inexpensive but I think it sounds great.

Hah, from the photo, it actually looked like the top of the enclosure was showing, and as such looked like a generic plastic/hammond enclosure.

Good to know of more options though (though I see you posted it in the mobile preamp thread a while back, so I would have known, and forgotten about it already!).

Anyone know a good travel case/backpack friend for Norns+Grid?

Looking for something that will keep them both safe, with perhaps room for a few other bits (PSU, phones, maybe a Volca etc.).

This is what I am using, everything fits great, though you’d be hard-pressed to put a Volca in it as well.

Thanks @yobink. I’ve just a found the full thread for this subject (sorry for posting here).

I need to get a case asap for a tour I’m leaving for on Saturday. I’m thinking 1400 looks good but I’d love to fit headphone in the case too. Anyone have insight on if the 1400 would be big enough? I want to fit Norns, Arc, 128 Grid, Zoom h4n pro and Sennheiser HD600’s. I feel like I could stack the arc and grid and maybe Norns and could fit the zoom in between the headphones. I don’t know where to buy the case in person so I’ll have to order it and won’t be able to bring my stuff to try it out. Thanks for any and all help in advance

The smaller elektron bag may work well too

Just ordered a norns and would like to find a nice fitted case for it. I suspect the dimension for height on the product page (0.8") does not include the knobs. Could someone tell me what the total height of the norns actually is? Thanks!

This is what I’m currently using to put norns in my backpack:

It’s snug but it fits.

I use a mini Away case. Apparently they aren’t available year round, but you can read about them here. Not sure when they’ll be on sale again. I think maybe year-end holidays?

I got one on @marcus_fischer’s suggestion. Works great. Looks like a tiny suitcase.

Both are elegant looking solutions. I’ve been researching cases for 5" GPS units, but still need to confirm the height of norns. Anyone have a ruler and norns handy?

Haven’t found a nice vehicle for my grid yet, but norns has a cozy home in this pelican. Was around $20.

Can you share which Pelican this is?

1120 I believe. I have the same one.

My earlier request keeps getting overlooked:
Can someone measure the total height of the norns including knobs?

Thanks!

I just measured mine and came up with 33 mm (1.3 inches), including feet and knobs.

Disclaimer: I used a ruler, so that measurement might not be 100% accurate.

That’s perfect to run with, thanks @sbaio
