There’s a seller in Germany who provides felt covers for a range of hardware. They look quite nice.

Perhaps they might do something custom for Grid if they were asked.

They do look quite nice don’t they?

might be interesting to see what they come up with without knobs that stick out…

I guess with something with such a low profile you just need a lid that goes around the whole thing, like a cake… ha

I use shower curtains, cut to size. To avoid the edges from getting thready over time, I carefully burn them with a lighter to “seal” them.

Nice solution! I shall look into something like that, some kind of stiff plastic sheeting.

Reached out to her and made one for myself. Just got it today it’s such a great fit! The quality is A+ and she gives you a lot of options. Thanks for the recommendation.

I don’t really travel, but space is very limited in this little flat, so I have to put things away when I’m not using them. I’ve found the box that the Pi & power supply came in to be a pretty good fit!

I just received this soft case for the smaller Apple wireless keyboard that fits the newest grid128 perfectly.

Hi everyone, just received my new grid and am amazed at the build quality and design compared to my 10+ year old one I previously owned. I was wondering if anyone has found a hard shell case or sleeve that fits the new grid well without having to go with a full on pelican. Thank you!

I just picked up this cheap-plastic case ($18 USD) from amazon. I would like it if it was just a little bit deeper so that the grid would sit comfortably above the norns while still having a little lip to sit into. I messed up the foam cutting a little but eh. Under the grid I cut enough space for ethernet/adapter, wall-power for norns, laptop-power micro-usb backup, 3.5mm cable, grid usb-c cable.

It’s no hard case, but they aren’t goin anywhere.

This $15 hard case I got for my analogue pocket actually suits my new Norns even better!

EDIT:

To continue this comical coincidental case stuff. This case I have for my roli seablock happens to fit the grid!

Now I just need to find an arc case :joy_cat:

oh, nice! that case for norns looks freaking adorable. does it fit with a 3.5mm adapter and/or wifi dongle attached? (looks like you could just put them in the mesh pocket either way)

You need to take them out! I was a LITTLE bummed about that!

My thing right now is building a bit of a “field kit” due to now having a TX-6. I’m very excited about being able to get out of the house for multitracking ambient nonsense. Part of why I replaced one of my FATES with an OG Norns.

The truth is, a small soft earring bag would be best for the USB’s and adapter pieces so they don’t knock around too much.

Thoughts are spinning and drawers are getting opened!

This is what I’m doing: using a Pelican 1170 to pack Norns and Grid with a charger and two USB cables (one for the charger, one for Grid).

I know Moog isn’t the most fitting sticker but Monome’s got no logo. I’d put a Buchla sticker on it if I had one.

Anyway, to fit everything, I had to remove the bottom foam from the case but I’m not too worried about it, the fit for Norns in the rest of the foam is snug.

Parts of the bottom foam are used to keep the Grid in place.

The Grid does not stick out of the main compartment so the foam on the hatch isn’t pushing too hard on the Grid buttons. In the picture below everything is fully packed.

When the case is closed, nothing is rattling, nothing is moving. Rock solid.

Please forgive me if this seems blasphemous, but does anyone stack their Norns on top of grids for the purposes of traveling. Seems like grids would fit in an analog case, with the case fitting Norns if it is placed on top of grids. This seems more convenient as it would avoid two cases.

quick PSA: if you do this, be sure to place a layer of wrap/material between them – depending on the cleanliness of your surfaces, the feet on norns can pick up oils and dirt, which would transfer (over time) to the grid pads. i actually ran into this while traveling with mine in this configuration – i had no idea why four pads on my grid were becoming discolored until i realized that the norns footprint was the exact same as the pads’ coordinates. once i added a layer between them (just perforated/honeycomb packing wrap), the cosmetic issue stopped developing.

That seems to make sense. If and when I get my hands on these machines I was planning on traveling with them in this fashion.
