Hi,

I found the old Notes max patch and thanks to @jasonw22 I was able to edit the presets to create my own fretboard. I have serialosc installed and running and my grid lights up but I don’t know how to get Ableton to recognise MIDI from the grid.

I am running Mac Catalina and a 128 kit grid. Is it something to do with IAC?

Yes. Set the output in Monome Notes to an IAC bus, and then use that as your midi in on an Ableton track. You may need to enable the IAC bus for input in Ableton MIDI preferences if you haven’t already.

Do you know the text in the default file for selecting an IAC bus?

Someone wrote a script that you can run through terminal for this not too long ago. They made one for drum rack usage as well

Here’s more detail about how to set up IAC on your Mac. Once it’s set up there should be an obvious menu choice under MIDI Out in Monome Notes

Yeah, I’m still hitting weird issues. Notes keeps defaulting to ‘from max 1’ port even after I added an IAC.
