On Monday March 6th I released what is probably going to be my last album for a very long time. If you’d like to know more about these tracks and the processes involved please reach out. Thanks for listening. -Johnny
Track 1. BOTW At 3am. One of the first tracks I worked on for this album is actually 3 different pieces from various live performances in 2021-22. Inspirations: Driving late at night, playing video games at 3am, insomnia.
Track 2. Sun Mountain. One of the last songs I wrote for this album. An experiment in using Patterning on the iPad synced up with the rest of the studio. Lyrically this track is about a girl and a time long since passed.
Track 3. The Red Flower. Words are from The Red Flower by Henry van Dyke originally published in 1917.
Track 4. A Ferrite Sea. Warm and heavy like a sea filled with iron.
Track 5. Riga. Inspired by a beautiful pinhole photograph that a friend gave me many years ago that I misplaced. Missing since 2016.
Track 6. Ice Church. Did you know there’s an Ice Church inside of an Ice Hotel in Kiruna Sweden?
Track 7. Tryflin. Experiments with rhythmic ecosystems in Ableton Live.
Track 8. Sunset In Reverse. It’s not “just a sunrise”.
Track 9. Indigo. The sun rises over a field of corpses somewhere in Western Pennsylvania
Track 10. Cursed Electricity. The environmental problems directly related to energy production and consumption include air pollution, climate change, water pollution, thermal pollution, and solid waste disposal.
Track 11. Meth Birds. I read a story about some drug addict parrots that were rescued from a meth lab.
Track 12. Swerve. Take a triple dose of your favorite sedative and climb behind the wheel.
