Depending on when we’ll see the release/shipping of Norns, it’ll be interesting to see how many approaches we’ll see with that as the “one and only” tool : - ) Down the road it would be cool to see a Norns Tunes Compilation, like the Aleph.

No norns compilation plans yet. Seems a little premature. I want to be optimistic that norns will ship by the solstice but who knows? I’m not going to add any more constraints to the prompt, but you are of course welcome to do as you please! Whatever makes the song the best it can be.

That’s a tall order for sure, but I’ve made full tracks using just Borderlands Granular, so…it’s possible! I’ll happily give it a whirl…

Also, I’ll be more than pleased to contribute since I have an ongoing project where I record improvisations/make tracks on or around full moon, solstice and equinox. Right up my alley!

Had a heap of fun starting on my track for this today. The sound-source I have limited myself to using is the decidedly non-glamorous synth that started it all for me…

I first got into synthesis in the early 2000s, when the Virtual Analog boom was in full force, so my very first synth was the Novation K-Station. Despite the horrible cheesy trance presets that this thing has, it’s actually a pretty intuitive device for making sounds & due to the fact that I’d probably get next-to-nothing for it, I’ve never considered parting with it.

This is an instrument that has been very much gathering dust under my desk for the past few years, while I’ve got heavily into modular & other ways of working.

Having spent a couple of hours today making & processing sound, I’ve got the bare bones of a track going on which isn’t sounding entirely dissimilar from what I’d make with my usual set-up anyway. It’s kind of nice to realise that I still sound like me regardless of what I use! :slight_smile:

Things have NOT gone as planned in my neck of the woods :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. I have made progress on the Max patch I wanted to build to do the thing I imagined to the instrument I plan to use, but family emergencies (of the ++unfun variety) have taken me away from it. My goal was to have the patch done by the end of May, though, giving three weeks in June for the track; I remain cautiously optimistic.

After randomly ended up with midi focus pointed at the cowbell and playing it with a keyboard I’ve settled on using solely the Analog Rytm for this project. Perhaps without any samples, for simplicity’s sake.

The hylozoic theme made me think of the crazy possibilities of FM synthesis and also the character that we ascribe to old things just by virtue of their being old. So, gonna give it a shot with the DX7.

Aaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh, my pocket operator has killed itself mid track making. I’m going to try and rescue it tonight. If I can’t get it operational then I think I’ll switch to using beepbox.co for my submission.

Jumping in here to say that I’m using my Sidrax, and allowing myself 4 tracks of overdub and minimal processing, just to keep myself accountable. Woo hoo!
