I was waiting…is a collection of songs extracted from long session recordings made during the last couple of weeks building up to the birth of our third child.
Revisiting the material a few months later, I felt the recordings all sat in an interesting spatial context, and although very much unplanned as an album, it turned out to be a little collection of music I hold dear.
I understand now that this time of waiting was a unique moment of my life I will never have again, and even if I wanted to recreate the aura I felt, I’d never manage to find that same exact space ever again.
There’s a longer story inside here as well, but I’ll keep that for myself.
Production wise, I’ve used a lot of norns with wrms, orgn and cheat codes. Some just friends and morphagene, and lots of fors fm in ableton. Happy to elaborate if you have q’s!
