The grid layout is so awesome man. Any chance to go slower than 1x and would it be possible to add 4 buttons to mute midi output? Thanks for all the hard works! You’re on fire!

Slower is possible yes. I’ll give it some thought/testing.
EDIT: Script is updated with slower speeds. /4 (slow) to x16 (fast). Is it sloooooooow enough?

Mute the midi? Do you want to do it momentarily or permanent? If permanent just turn it off in the params. By default midi A and engine is on for all four sequencers.

That seems like a great spot to lose a whole day staring at how that mess gets resolved.

Edit

It’s also in stark contrast to how elegant the UI for Initenere is!

Awesome! I’ll try it out today for sure! Seems perfect.

Temporarily muting the output of a/d. If not no biggie.

Was just thinking if I where sequencing 4 different instruments I could mute on and off. But it’s really nothing i can’t do with a fader and my midi controller in my DAW.

You can pause the sequncer by long pressing the direction buttons.

Ohhhhh Awesome. I didn’t make it that far I guess. Sweetness

wonder how straight forward is to change synth engine. I’d like to use thebangs…

Honestly this was my first choice but I couldn’t get it to work. No idea why and I mostly use it with external gear. I will look at it again. The fact I couldn’t get it working the first time bothers me so…

Wow, I really love this script. Thanks

ah!
ok…i don’t use Ableton stuff.
i just use MIDI clock.

understood.
ok…i was just a bit confused with it’s reaction to external sync.

my setup is with a Cirklon running into a MIO MIDI to USB to sync norns.

yeah!
if you could add the Arcologies type of MIDI sync as well as Start/Stop would be AWESOME!
:stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll put transport start/stop on the backlog. Should be an easy implementation. But I still don’t quite follow regarding sync being behind 1/16.

apaologies if i’m not being clear.
i was attempting to start and stop a single track by hand.
i stopped all four tracks.
made sure they were all set to their basic settings or “zeroed” out.
playing only forward.

then as the my other machines were playing…i attempted to start one of the tracks on a down beat several times.
it seemed to always be just a bit off but then would be somewhat consistently playing off of the 16th before the down beat of the next note.
like you mentioned…kind of a swing to it…always a 16th before the down beat.

Ok, i think i get it now. Will do some work on this, testing with external gear attached and make sure stuff stays “in sync”. Thanks for the heads up!

This is a fantastic app, so lovely! Options for panning the molly voices would be killer. I very briefly looked into it and it seems you would have to create a copy of the Molly engine because I didn’t see the pan param defined in the engine.

Modulating the pan per voice/sequencer according to its horizontal position might be interesting. Maybe where you can set the spread amount per sequence and each block represents a 1/4 change to that amount. May try and dig into that if I get curious enough…

Interesting, I might look into it. I also have plans on testing TheBangs as engine. We’ll see what and how will be the standard engine. If you want to try and alter the script yourself you’re very welcome to reach out if you need explantations for the code. I “action” coded it and some of it is backwards and maybe not very intuitively named / structured.

Thank you all for the incredible support I’ve received on this script. Just uploaded an update with some user requests and some ideas of my own. As always, keep posting suggestions and ideas!

UPDATE 210207

  • Crow in 2 randomize note matrix (set in params)
  • Note probability (set in params or on Grid)
  • More Grid stuff (see updated image in first post, time routings, momentary mutes and halts, note probability)
  • Better (to my ears) octave ranges, ‘x’ (only root note), 1 octave, 2 and 4.
  • Midi/Link transport (should work better now, thank you @infinitedigits for the code snippet)

Easter egg for @swhic, code for thebangs is in the script. You just need to comment out the molly-stuff and un-comment thebangs-stuff. I tried it but want to stick with Molly, at least for now.

EDIT: Forgot to include the new lib-folder in the commit. fixed now. So, if you updated today, please update again.

This is pretty great, no real idea what I’m doing but managed to record what sounds like a drunk outtake from the Night on the Galactic Railroad OST so I’m sold

randomly tricking out the parameters is beyond fun. this script invites exploration of a lot of musical territory in a really short time. absolutely amazing work

Some very sublime ideas here. Quite intuitive to jump right in with. An emergent crossroads.
