In order to get the Twin Peaks in I had to file away about 2 mm (about 0.08 inches) of the plug of its power cable, as it was one of those which folds the cable once above the connector, making the connector at the module’s PCB unnecessarily high, like this:
Being relatively new to Eurorack, I was amazed by the compact size of the Isms, which makes it feel heavier than it actually is. The pots give a satisfying resistance when turning (which I do prefer over pots that turn to easy, like those on the Braids), which makes actions like fine adjustments on attentuators way easier for me.
And there is a neatness (for the lack of a better word, as I am not a native speaker) to the Isms that I really like. With the power bus board neatly tucked away under the control strip, the module space is completely free. And the power connector is basically at the top of each module (with the exception of modules that are slimmer than 6 HP), which means that the power cables of almost all of my modules are way too long, so I am considering making shorter ones.
Now all I need is time to learn the system – as this is not only my first hands-on experience with a Teletype, but also with Grid-based modules!
