#Jamuary2023 Ep. 30: Amen Break on Norns
Amen breaks mangled with a dedicated Norns script at 148 BPM. NOTE: this one isn’t quiet!
Monark provides bass, Opsix the bell, and there’s two rhythm guitar takes in each headphone. I’m not particularly ready to shred at 148 BPM to be quite frank

I was pretty happy with how this one turned out… this has been my first jamuary and I’m pleased I’ve been able to keep up with a piece every day (playing catchup some days, naturally, but even so)!

It’s Dronuary 30th.
This is Fors Chiral and a reversed and time stretched piano through Ableton Echo. The video is shot in Tervakoski, Finland.

For my jam today, I used my newly acquired Koma BD101 which I used for the first time in this recording! I’ve wanted this “synth pedal” for almost 10 years now, and now I have the complete Koma pedal series which has unfortunately been discontinued. The best way that I can describe the pedal is by saying it turns every sound source into a complex oscillator. The gate at the high settings becomes a type of AM modulation with a quick and crushing BBD delay. The chords are from the Roland JP-08 sequenced using the Polyend Tracker.

All Aalto. 6 instances of 4-oscillator unison drones with linear detuning, and a 7th played on Launchpad Pro. No other synths or effects aside from Voxengo TEOTE and Elephant on the full mix.

Missed some days as I was occupied with CTM, but back at it with OP-Z on the train and some generative staircase i found

Today’s jam started with the patch Baby-Jockey on the Organelle. I played some bossa/samba chords over it. Came up with some rhodesy-melody, added beat-repeat and dressed it all up with some 808s and lousy bass playing.
Only one left for a full streak!

It’s January 31st on the other side of the international date line, and Tuesdays are bonkers for me, so here are my final installments (Tuesday’s may have been recorded on the weekend).
30 Jam
For today, I added more filters and more feedback. In addition to the wonderful BB+N out of my Joranalogue, I added a Manhattan Audio SVVCF and a Serge EQ. Those went into my Doepfer A-138M, and routed to a Belton Brick reverb, and Beads. Key parameters controlled with Control, and my poor Vector Sequencer played a 2 note sequence. Oscillators are from the Vermona Perfourmer.
31 Jam
I’m wrapping up the month with something a little different. A canon of sorts (or is it not very phasey phase music?) with my wife on vocals, based on an unheard (by you) piano part, and into some granulators, and time based effects in Ableton Live. I’m messing with Live’s time-stretch parameters to get different timing despite its compulsion to beat-sync everything.

Dronuary 30th. Two instances of Lacinantes and effects. My attempts to tame the harsh frequencies it can generate were not entirely succesful, so careful with the volume…

Thank you. The drone + feedback thing will be the building blocks for some kind of record in 2023.

Not a lot of time tonight, so quickly put something together in Bitwig Grid. I guess it’s in 11/8 time or something.

I half-followed the prompt from @beto 's site (make music w/o hearing it).
I recorded a a simple one-finger melody on the Rhodes without being able to hear it… but to a click.
(and accidentally cheated because even with the click going, I could still hear the faintest sound from the tines (o0Ops)).
Then I listened to it and made and added a beat and some bleeps from the modular.
…one more to go:)

I’d love to hear this get developed. I can’t say why, but this reminds me of late 90’s Meat Beat Manifesto and I like late 90’s MBM.
Edited to say that this sounds nothing like late 90’s mbm, it makes me think of it though.
