I tried the 'workaround" with just about anything i would use as a RUN input in my case and it’s really an awesome function and for many of us i assume you might have a Cold MAc in the case and running LFOS/IFM modules etc into ColdMac and then into Run worked fantastic among other things. i think this is a pretty specific issue but this is pretty nice considering that Euro is all over the place, this speaks to the concern and transparency of Mannequins and should be applauded

kind regards

Anyone send their JF back for repair? I sent mine last week and it arrived on Friday. Whimsical Raps said they would send email to verify receipt. Nothing yet, so wondering if anyone has received notice.

Checked with Schneiders, they said they will take care of it (either doing it in-house if Whimsical Raps tells them how to perform the upgrade, or send it to them) and sent me a parcel sticker, so that I don’t have to pay for sending the JF to Schneiders.

As I’ve been thru the process of having to send back and re-importing modules and instruments several times, with all the paperwork & hassle involved for not having to pay import duties & taxes again, I do appreciate that Schneiders is working with Whimsical Raps to make this as painless as possible.

Yep, I sent mine off from the UK and it arrived around the same time. I emailed to say that I’d sent it because I thought I’d read somewhere that they asked people to do that, but haven’t heard back. I’m sure it’s just a bit crazy there and they’ll let us know when they’re returning the module to us. Definitely got some separation anxiety, though!

Yes, Schneidersladen are great and uncomplicated with those issues. They helped me a lot with eventually getting my Verbos modules in a new-from-factory condition.

Maybe it’s a specific thing for germany but I alway feel a little unpleasant when I have to pay for sending modules back to the shop for warranty issues lasting from the manufacturing process.

After sending one device back to the US for repair and not being able to get any consistent information from various members of the custom offices how to prevent being taxed on them again I order everything I need from Schneidersladen. It’s a shame that they don’t list Monome.

Sent mine as well - arrived on Saturday. I am sure they’re just busy. And it’s the holidays.

I just bought a Just Friends from Control—they list it as having the RUN jack revision already performed! Great stuff, excited to get more friends going on.

Because I’m allergic to the post office, can we confirm that as long as I’m patching the Run jack to/from any Mannequins/Monome module, OR, as long as I patch the Run side first, then other end to some other possibly unprotected jack second that I’ll still be okay?

Okay all the time?

No exceptions?

Vade in pace?

looks like you’ll be fine

Thanks. Yeah, I know for sure Run is okay in the family, and I’m pretty sure if patched in the correct sequence, any other modules should be fine; it’s just, in light of the desire to have JF actually modified by many of the people posting, it makes me wonder if simple vigilance isn’t enough…and also, to act as a kind of catch-all for other readers/visitors to remind us that the mod isn’t actually necessary, with said vigilance intact.

In other words, I’m resisting peer pressure to send mine in.

Vigilance is absolutely enough.

Full disclosure, It costs me a bunch of money to do these ‘upgrades’. But…

Vigilance is absolutely enough.

Well, I’m all the more glad to be saving you a bit of that money by employing aforementioned vigilance.

Onwards!

going the vigilance route myself.

Hey guys. After the device has been properly modified by the manufacturer, is there any indication on the device that confirms it? I’m just wondering if I look on the back or something if I can tell that it has been taken care of. Thanks!

Yeah, a sticker on the side of the jack (the actual component) on the PCB side of the module. Mine looked like a small tick, if I remember correctly.

Whismical Raps initial comment to my email was
“You can make doubly-sure by looking for a small sticker on the side of the RUN jack with the module uninstalled”

Is this the part where I should be seeing the sticker?
I have not been able to get an answer to my question since I emailed them 3 weeks ago, so I thought to ask here.

Is this a simple fix? Is there any documentation showing what needs to be done?

from what i’ve read it is not a simple fix. best to send it in.

Oh bummer.
Would I have no problems using RUN if I connect the patch cable first to RUN then to a second module?
Really love all their other modules I own but feeling a little bit uneasy knowing I could potentially mess up things…

yeah it’s all explained here:

all monome and whimsical modules are protected. so no worries there. fwiw, i haven’t had mine fixed.
