I don’t want speculation on the issue.

Just want to know what is exactly the case, so that I can make an informed decision about what to do with my JF unit.

Simple.

My apologies. Obviously only one person can give you the concrete answers you are looking for.

However, given the time that elapsed from the issue being reported, I doubt a concrete timeline will be available for the delivery of a new fixed batch. Design, testing and manufacturing dont happen overnight.

The problem was known at least by the MiM event in NY in early October.

I’m currently in discussion with the manufacturers who’ve reported issues. I can’t make promises before we have confirmed any kind of ‘solution’ actually solves the issue. I’m confident there is one, but please be patient - It’s literally just me and Izzy out here!

I’ll be responding to the dozens of emails I’ve received later today.

Thanks for finally confirming you are looking into it.

It’s been a long few days but I believe we’ve found a solution to move forward on a modification for the existing Just Friends modules that will avoid any issues with potential damage to unprotected module’s outputs.

At present we’re arranging the logistics of how these modifications can happen seamlessly with as little disruption as possible. Before posting details though I’m awaiting confirmation from Intellijel that the proposed modification will absolutely avoid damage to their Metropolis module (Verbos has already confirmed this works for them). I should have confirmation by the weekend, either direct from Intellijel, or trial by fire at Control.

In the meantime, the patch-connection-order workaround is a safe way to use the RUN jack.

That’s excellent news. Thank you!

Great news!
Looking forward to the details!

Very glad to hear this!
Thank you for all your work on this module

To be sure : does this mean that a DIY solution is doable ?
I just cancelled a Just Friends order to wait for some news.

Allo all,
Apologies it’s taken a little while to confirm our modification would solve the issue, but finally have confirmation that Metropolis is safe as a result. Unfortunately the modification is quite involved and requires the module be sent in to be implemented.
If you’d like to know more, have a read through the updated outline here which details how to send your module in for repair if you so desire.

This is awesome!

Any chance you’ll partner up with some trusted dealers to do the mods (more) locally (to us) or is it too involved?

Is there a link for further info? I didn’t see it at the link at the top of the post.

Got it. Cache issue. I expected the word here to be a link. Refreshed a few time and found it.

Great!

What is the estimated turn around time?

(Trying to figure out best time to take it out of the case…)

We’ll try to get them turned around in a week. Returned modules will be prioritized, but the whole process takes around 45mins after it’s been tested & return shipped. Not a lot of time for one, but adds up very quickly…

What’s the deal with JFs bought by official international distributors, like Schneiders?

Well done. This will not be forgotten.

I tried the 'workaround" with just about anything i would use as a RUN input in my case and it’s really an awesome function and for many of us i assume you might have a Cold MAc in the case and running LFOS/IFM modules etc into ColdMac and then into Run worked fantastic among other things. i think this is a pretty specific issue but this is pretty nice considering that Euro is all over the place, this speaks to the concern and transparency of Mannequins and should be applauded

kind regards

Patrick
