Trying to understand the behavior I’m seeing when sending negative velocity values with JF.VTR, JF.VOX or JF.NOTE. I expected any negative value to be the same as sending a velocity of 0, but instead I see the following.
This is a new module (gold clouds) that I have just downloaded the v3.1.2 firmware to.
Just Friends is set to sound/transient, all knobs are at noon. Mix jack goes to audio output.
First, run JF.MODE 1 to enter synthesis mode. Then run e.g. JF.VTR 0 V -5. All generators trigger and continue to sound until a velocity is sent for that channel that is a) not zero and b) strictly greater than the velocity sent previously. For example running JF.VTR 0 + 1 V -5 next will release all channels (often with a slight pop), but JF.VTR 0 V -5 or JF.VTR 0 0 will not.
Sending more and more negative values with this command gets somewhat louder output up until about V -5, then gets quieter until JF.VTR 0 V -10 is silent.
In some cases after messing with this for a while I have become unable to get any output from the Mix jack (though individual channel outputs will still produce sound) until a power cycle.
Bit of an odd edge case but I tripped over this when sending negative velocities accidentally while scripting. I know it has been gushed about extensively at this point but this device is really something special, I cannot believe what I am hearing.
