Hey!
I bought a just friends cause this is just way too awesome. Super hyped to program JF directly through teletype.
I installed 2b2 with 1.4 running on TT. I’ve only tried polyphony so far but as soon as I issue a JF.VOX to change the pitch teletype hangs. Is there a later firmware than 2b2? Please tell me this is not a dead project?

I’m currently sitting at my computer working on this in México! Sun is shining both literally and metaphorically. Hope to have a new beta up by this weekend. Think I forgot to update my travel-case’s teletype before leaving, so there’ll be a little flying blind…

More a recalibration of expectation I’m afraid. Thought it better to take the time to do it as best as possible, rather than rush. One of the great things about not telling people what you’re working on is it let’s you prioritize quality over expediency.

(Apologies for promising ‘the’ Just Type release way back in October!)

I started learning spanish 4 weeks ago, but 2.5 days in and things are starting to ‘sit’ somehow, hah! Amazing what you can do just walking & talking (and consulting google translate constantly). Excited to see where I’m at after 5 weeks!

Perhaps strangely I’ve been more productive work-wise since being here too?! Can’t say I’d be too upset if dondon revokes my visa and I’m ‘stranded’ here…

Pure gold. I remember when I first came to the US there was a glorious hombre cat that would sit in jesus’ place in the nativity scene next to my local grocery store. Truly the chosen ones.

I bought a teletype and ansible arc and grids because of just type (but stayed for all the rest of the amazing things I’ve found - I mean the teletype “expanders” are fully featured modules!)

Just Type Synthesis Mode:

Are there any audio or video examples of this mode out there? I know Just Type is still in beta, but I’m intrigued (don’t have a Teletype or Just Friends to try it myself). Trying also to decide if I want to spend my saved up money on that combo, Teletype + 2 Mangroves, or an Arc…

i’ve only been able to run JT in synthesis mode for a few minutes at a time before it freezes up - but those few minutes sound AMAZING! i think @Galapagoose is working on stabilizing JT, but the timeframe on that is unknown.

Hey i don’t know if your work on that thing is still ON but just for you to know:

Synthesis freeze when curve is set to SIN
JF.RMODE isn’ working as expected (i tried the plume mode and only optained constant note)

It could also be cool to add something similar to TR.TIME.

Anyway congratulation, the basic mode is extremely convenient __

Hate to be the needy demanding “customer” but could you please give us an update and perhaps some insight on expectations? Is there some way one can help code-wise? I think the firmware is not open source or if it is I failed to find it.

It’s in development. It will be open source. I got stuck essentially rebuilding the whole project from the ground up – so much of Just Type changes the fundamental signal flow that didn’t gel at all with the code structure. It’s coming along but I’m currently only working weekends while I take a 3 month coding retreat (as in, learning to code better, not coding JF).

So, yes it is happening, and no I can’t give much insight as to when. I’ve set out on numerous occasions thinking “ok today it will make sound again” only to be sorely disappointed. I’m trying not to project that repetitive missing of the mark.
