a subharmonic sequencer for norns and just friends
not much new here. but I thought I’d share anyway. this script is the result of one of many scripting exercises that was written some time ago. with this one I put my focus on drawing lines, rectangles and squares and some music math. at the time I was very interested in whole concept of the moog subharmonicon but I did’t really need one or wanted to buy one, so I studied the manual and attempted to do something with the tools I had around. just friends seemed perfect for the job due to its six oscillators that can be addressed independently. also, around the time I had started writing justharmonicon @stvnrlly had released subharmoniclone so I decided against adding an engine for sound synthesis and I won’t be adding one in the future. However, most of the plumbing is already there and would be happy to assist anyone who would like to add an engine as a personal scripting exercise. hope you enjoy this one, looking forward to hear what you make with it.

The video above (not the very best I admit) is a brief demo of justharmonicon. There’s a lot to explore and sometimes it takes a while to find the sweet-spots but it has led me to magical places… please share your discoveries!
The user manual can be downloaded here as PDF . You will have a the latest copy on your norns too, once the script is installed or updated. SMB to dust/code/justharmonicon/doc to access.
Thank you all for your kind words makes me happy to see folks enjoying the script.
I kept the docs pretty lightweight so if there are any questions let me know. One thing I’d like to explain a bit, which is not covered in the docs is the voice allocation parameter. Depending on its setting, the oscillator voices (osc1 + both sub osc / osc2 + both sub osc) are assigned to the JF voices (IDENTITY - 6N) differently. I chose to add this feature due to the fact that the depth of FM INDEX affects the individual voices INTONE-style when turned CCW. So depending on the voice allocation setting one can add a little FM to the primary oscillators only, or the both second sub oscillators, or the sub-oscillators of the second voice etc…
That looks incredible – hopefully i find the time to dive deep enough into it to add midi-capabilities. Or is this something you might add in the future?
