Scales don’t seam to be working and have no effect on midi notes. otherwise these seams pretty close. Are they broken or is something wrong with my install?
Nah, the scales function doesn’t currently work. I’ve tried, with my very basic programming knowledge to try and fix it, but that was unsuccessful.
The original author of this script suggests that he will be potentially revisiting this in the future. Until then, you’ll have to Issa some more roundabout methods to generate your own scales outside of the Norns.
sorry this hasn’t had any attention of late - earning a living taking priority still I will be returning to it some time in the coming months but not quite sure when right now (there is light on the horizon for a stable income & more predictable time planning )
can anyone confirm that kria midi is still working on their norns on the latest update?
I haven’t been able to get it to work even after renaming the script folder, which was mentioned up thread.
Not working on mine.
Ugh sorry. I’ll try and get a fix up in the next few days…
is everyone getting this error?

here’s the smoking gun – the folder on your norns is named
kria_midi, but the script explicitly is searching for a folder named
local kria = require 'Kria/lib/kria'
did you download this from maiden’s package manager? or did you upload it manually?
edit: oh, i guess this is still problematic for folks after they change the folder name? @junklight, any progress?
Hi Dan, i used maiden’s package manager…
can you test this out by replacing yr current
kria_midi folder with this one (use sftp)? might need a restart too. i fixed up the refs as well as the
get_time() call which was blocking the playhead from progressing on the main page. working here, but would like verification:
kria_midi.zip (13.6 KB)
@junklight, i couldn’t branch your repo – can you please test + fold in these changes if they work?
If things are actually going to be broken open on Kira, are there any chances e we could see a fix for the scales function and maybe Crow support with JF and CV? I understand that @dan_derks has lots on his plates with scripts he’s made himself, but if anybody has the chops, it would be an amazing edition to the crow family.
I can confirm all is working well doing a quick test with my op-z
did you fix it? you star! - sorry I’ve been so unresponsive - life is complicated right now. I’ll get it in and also see what’s wrong with the permissions on the repo
I’ve not got crow - and even worse selling my modular right now (money issues ) so I can’t add that stuff - I will sort the repo out so people can fork
Hope all is okay in your life, @junklight
thank you! not too bad - mostly financial crap from not working after getting better from heart stuff - just getting myself back on my feet again is taking time…
This makes the scrip load but i would say in general this scrip is not functioning. The scales don’t work. If you sequence a note on the top row it doesn’t trigger. and some other stuff. Also since kira just got a update on the ansible this one is a bit off on how it functions compared. I would really love a norns midi kira as i love kira on my modular and one thing has been on my mind a little bit with the whole norns monome eco system. There are a handful of things that I think are core to the monome lets say brand…MLR, KIRA, Meadowphysics, Earthsea, etc and I wish that monome would sort of make these all official norns apps and see that they where built and supported. I love the experimentation and all the fun norns things but it would be great if there where a core set of things that you just knew where going to function as expected especially when new norns updates happen. Would love your thoughts on this @tehn
@junklight has taken on an amazing task and done some great work and done it all just cause with is amazing and i just think kira would be beautiful if it got it full potential.
I feel guilty about this. Things have been, & still are, unsettled in my life. Nothing dramatic, just getting back on track after all the heart stuff last year. However - there is light at the end of the tunnel & I will get back to this soonish.
- Renamed it
- Removed all code not related to
- Restructured the files so that things are in line with what the package manager /
nornsmenu system expect for projects (as of
- Incorporated @dan_derks fixes to the script include paths
@junklight - with your approval I can temporarily change the community catalog to point at this fork (and field pull requests if there are any) or I can transfer this new repo back to you (and update the catalog to point at your copy).
…if one of the above sounds good to you, great! If not no worries - just trying to help out while you get up and running again.
