Some news
First of all, mastering is almost done, @Simeon did an outstanding job we think, but you’ll hear soon for yourself.
I also have the cover almost ready to go to the printer. If you want to give it a look and help me spot typos, here it is:
In case you are wondering about it: the cover will be printed on a yellowish paper, so the final chromatic result will be different from what you see above.
I’ve also got a text I want to put on the inside, which is this one:
in 2015 we made an album, it was called the malosco sessions and we printed it on vinyl. 4 years later, we decided to bring it back.
initially it was supposed to be a mix of unreleased materials, remixes of the album tracks (made by ourselves) and maybe some collaborations. The more we thought about it, the more we realized that we wanted it to be a dialogue, a cultural exchange, an experiment in mutation and musical gene manipulation. so we did a risky thing. we went to llllllll.co and just posted an open call for remixes. the rules were few and simple: pick a track, do whatever you want, but use the vinyl itself as the source material.
we didn’t want a classic remix album. no putting kick drums under the track and calling it a day. to our great satisfaction, we got back a bunch of weird, experimental and daring tracks, which took our own creations to a whole new level.
the risk had been worth the while.
so here it is. our very first remix album, by a serendipitously hand-selected group of electronic musicians: the ironaugust sessions*!
if you’re interested in knowing more about how this album came along and read some of the artists’ notes, head over to kvsu.net/ironaugust
(*) the name is a silly pun on the Italian “Ferragosto”. Ferro=Iron, Agosto=August. Ferragosto is a holiday in Italy, the name does not have anything to do with Iron though, but stems from the Latin “feriae Augusti”, which might be translated to “August rest”. Incidentally the festivity is always on the 15th of August, which was also the deadline we had picked for the remixes.
Lat but not least, we have a new kvsu newsletter, so if anybody feels like getting updates from us (usually not more than 3-4 mails a year) here you can sign up:
We’re using Buttondown, which is a very no-nonsense and privacy friendly newsletter service, focused on writing, not marketing.
So far our newsletter has been mostly devoted to informing people about our live gigs, but we want to extend beyond that and add more content for non-locals.
