This is a small selection of my live-remix/edit-recordings. There are some silly tunes in there, but I really enjoyed making them… https://birdyearns.bandcamp.com/album/live-remixes

2 years back, we wrote these two songs for a (now over) project called D.WIGHT. It slept on my hard drive the whole time but I found them recently and I thought it was stupid to have those two tracks unreleased so I decided to give them away and… well that’s it. It’s pretty pop, not the kind of things you’d hear a lot around here but ah, why not?

Today was the release of digital release Vialan - Default 0007 on my little little SM-LL.

It was 11 months since he reached out to us to share how much he enjoyed the label, and from that point soon it was working with him, developing his sound, but also exchanging many ideas and subjects, many we found to share.

It has been a really amazing 11months and is the beginning of what is sure to yield more great music, but more than that, it reminds me why we work so hard to do this in the first place, to keep doing things for the right reasons.

One for fans of old Cr78 drum sounds, electronic music, and perhaps enjoying a slight hint of dub/industrial.

thx

This is still in the realm of “just practicing”, but I thought I’d share anyways, since I’m mostly pleased with the results.

this is my first song with my new modular fx skiff. an ambient drone instrumental for harp, ebow, and field recordings. strymon tape delay and reverb + mutable instruments clouds and tides. a bit of glitch and filtered chord swells on a gray afternoon.

I put a picture of a thing in the pictures thread, but here’s a short video:

What you’re seeing: the object on the left is sending MIDI to the microbrute. The object on the left can also make its own synthetic noises, which sound like you might expect. It also has other functionality - around what notes are available, and how they’re played - not visible in this video.

I’ll be a lot less obtuse in about three weeks when we do a show about the thing, and I talk about it a lot on the internet. Also, when I have video that isn’t from an jerky iPhone.

Very beautiful. Listened to it several times and I really like the subtle clicks and harmonies.

thank you so much! i followed the “blind” recording process from a few disquiet junto projects back, not hearing anything until it was all finished. the field recordings and little harp plucks, run through the modular, sometimes resemble mlrv clicks, sometimes old, crinkled tape; pleasant discontinuities.

much of the single-track-at-a-time process was about leaving space for things to happen once assembled. just holding the harp and remaining still.

Why not. I’ve had a monome for years, but only recently did I decide to sit down and learn to actually, you know, program it. It’s being used to control some simple MAX patches; combine that with a guitar, a looping pedal, a filter and a bit crusher, and you get something along these lines:

If you like that, here’s an album made with similar (though different) techniques.
