A few months ago two good friends (one of which happens to be @plebeien) and I formed a band to play at a dadaism-themed house party. It was our first real live set — we played some electronic and ambient things, and it was a hugely positive experience.

The party’s host absolutely loved it. So we made arrangements with his friend to secretly throw another show for his birthday. We somehow managed to get a guitar cab, a cello, a modular synth and a PA into his house without him noticing.

We threw together three songs. Here they are! The first track is just some talking, feel free to skip ahead. Second is more of a pop thing. Third is acoustic ambient. Fourth is a banger.

And yet another live set! This was last Sunday’s Disquiet meetup with @maxijazz. This is much more electronic, with ambient, techno and industrial vibes.

Trying out some different sounds this morning. I keep being surprised by how much I can get out of 84hp!

The whisk + snare combo sounds great

Thanks.

It’s almost weird to watch it after working on the mix for a couple of days because the sounds are some brutal and alien that when you see a whisk and a mic on a snare, it seems so normal(ish).

I’ve got a few videos of this setup coming up, though more a tripod kind of look.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy it!

recorded vcv to cassette and sampled the cassette to norns mlr. patch was marbles, two two fm oscillators in to clouds.

You can take the boy out of the 80s, but you can’t take the 80s out of the boy. This one came out of my brain unbidden; I thought I was making another sombre track until suddenly I wasn’t!

Something mostly mellow and melodic, sequenced by Teletype…

Posted a whole mess of new videos to my Vimeo/Youtube, but here are a couple of selections.

This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but yesterday I released a short vaporwave EP. I processed all samples through dictaphone and tape, and ran it all through the Alesis Wedge for reverb. But if I’m being honest, I prefer the album art to the actual album. Thought I’d share it though.

my last solo release, called All This Here, a sound cycle for Fogo Island (a small fishing community off the eastern coast of Canada) recorded mostly on the island featuring processed field recordings, synth, grand piano, violin, cello, and electronics. i returned to the island last year with a friend to film a bunch of videos with my friend colin and there are a few up on my youtube.

i just made a similar (in approach) record in Big Sur, California that is coming out this fall.

this video captures dusk falling over the village of Fogo. such a beautiful place with wonderful people if you ever get to go. there is a documentary called Strange and Familiar (that i did the score for hence the visits!) that is a real nice snapshot of a remote community and a hopeful story. worth watching!
