captivating, fascinating. would love to hear more about what’s actually happening with the aleph and the turn tables. custom vinyl?

really wonderful. thanks.

Judging by the fact that the record player arms/needles are not moving, this looks like a custom LP with looped grooves. So, each record is set to a different loop on the disc. Likely harmonizing textures. Further processed by aleph via slowly evolving generative algorithm…

That is my theory anyway :slight_smile:

Awesome piece. Great looking, beautiful sounding.

@wooer @glia @dadek @laborcamp thanks!! :blush:

@dadek this is a new beta of the prgm app with turntable sequencing. I’m using test-tone type of vinyl so what you hear is the raw recording, but with post filtering and send fx. At the start pitches are set to a chord (0:03 when displays reads SLo), and then there’s the play/stop/reverse action as seen. The cool thing about these decks is that every function is possible to sequence, still much to explore!

[/quote]This is the beauty of Vestax tables. I had a buddy who used to do mods to manipulate the motor speed. Not sure if most can handle such automated abuse (but i could be wrong).

I’ve taken a break from writing music the past two to three months and have been working on being able to sit at my modular and play something, also working out new stylistic strategies etc. Here are two efforts from this week:

all of this is live from loop test tones (far from properly mixed etc).

you can hear the commentator’s voice announcing the frequencies.

That’s a cool option too! It’s too bad Vestax went bankrupt, they had some really innovative thinking!

Really cool work. Thanks for the info. Never realized any turntables were controllable In that way.

Here is the last thing I posted online, nearly two weeks ago… Its a sort of tribute to the writer W.G Sebald… I am not posting much online at the moment as I am working on a film soundtrack but hope to post something new soon… Have a listen and comment

A rough ‘n’ ready mix of room and desk recordings from my opening set at Aural Ataraxia’s Electronic Madness night at Akusmata Gallery in Helsinki. Thanks to Kenneth Kovasin for organising and Wellenform and bin.exe for performing.

P.S. There wasn’t much madness going on in my set by the way…
