i am humbled and honoured to share two simultaneous releases with all of you
many are aware of the ongoing collaboration i have w/ @wooer .
we’ve been bouncing around ideas and audio since summer of 2015 + the sounds are continually changing as we learn more about ourselves & each other
here are two pieces we made during winter:
Feedback is generally seen in a negative light… something to minimize or eliminate entirely
from musical performance and recording. However we found it ironic that feedback is a foundational element of many synthesis techniques and chose to focus on these methods for a collaborative project. This type of exploration is not new. We felt there was no need to focus on novelty for its own sake. Still, the results were somewhat unexpected and pursuing the possible range of sounds within our preferred systems (software / no input) was extremely educational for us.
.
most of the 2nd album is more recent but also involves Nik…really wouldn’t exist at all without him.
(the clearest example? COH is a reworked song of his)
Technically, these are solo recordings…but most of the songs were initiated with Nikita Bugaev in mind. They probe beyond my fear of disappointing him (or any artist I collaborate with) and serve as personal proof that battling such fear is worthwhile.
It is also important to acknowledge my dependence on the ideas and instruments of Trent Gill, Peter Blasser, and Brian Crabtree to generate and modulate the sounds heard.
Through looping or manipulation of the vinyl playback speed, eq settings, and added fx…I encourage you to freely take control of this record. Whether you enjoy 30 seconds or 30 minutes I’d be happy knowing that you did so as an active listener.
Consider the album an extended collaboration between us.
