Here is my new bandcamp album. It was made for Subterranean Tide label in Richmond Virginia but they went on an ‘indefinite hiatus’ so I put it out myself.
The album is based on ‘Westron Wynd’ a 500+ year old traditional folk / lyric-poem. The vocal version (track 2) is sung by Bird Radio (Cherry Red records). Its meant to be a 21st century re-interpretation of the tune and updates it using some ambient and electronic styles but also features a lot of field recordings, the odd bit of piano and some strings.
I have a few ‘press packs’ to send out with a free copy of the album for those who ‘do blogs / reviews ete’, just send me a message if you want one to review.

very raw, no post editing at all. playing samples in re:mix -> modular (MI Rings and Clouds) -> op-1 (for the spring reverb effect). i like the way how a drum samples sounds trough Rings

Oh, I forgot to mention, that I’ve been performing in sort of an ‘open’ association of synthesists in Louisville. We’ve only begun, but this is a little tape we cobbled together DIY style for our first show. Each side is edited down elements from our first two ‘private performances’.

Anyway, lots of directions it can go in, but right now it’s pretty zonked improvised modular synth trio. No patching between our cases.

I did this as a joke in response to a conversation about conspiracy peddler Alex Jones. I’m normally a perfectionist and rarely release anything, but this was fun and took me about 15 minutes to make. At some point I will post my “serious” music.

I’m going full speed with my corny side-project about synths and waves and retro BS.

Currently doing a lot of exploration of this style in general. It’s very different than what I normally do (which is drone lol) but it’s a whole lot of fun.

a live performance in one take. ambient improvisation. mlrv, modular, monome grid+arc, earthsea, ansible, the entire mannequins line, and various fx.

ansible is running cycles, which lets through waves of white noise generated by cold mac, from @glia’s CM patch suggestion. i switch between rhodes loops (and inner loops) on mlrv and triggering earthsea patterns recorded earlier. earthsea POS notes are sent to mangrove and 3sis, EDGE gate to envelopes from JF’s sustain/shape mode.

so many beautiful cascading melodies were made tonight. i am constantly surprised and thrilled by just how inspiring this setup is, now that my mini-composition system is complete. combining the modular with mlrv brought even more timbres into play. this was the first time i’d used the newest modules, and the first time putting this entire setup together. i’ll definitely revisit this workflow in future projects.
