Here’s an album I made with my friend Avi Buffalo out in LA earlier this year, just put it out today. It features Avi on processed guitar and Moog, and me on modular synthesizer.

I made a Music Video and we used a lot of Modular, Synths, Sequencer, Drum Machine, as set pieces. I had a bunch of fun and got to use just about all of my audio and video stuff. Its like im back in film school
I’m very very bad at deciding that something is finished. I have music I’ve been working on for decades (!) because I can always find something else to tweak. Here’s a thing I released to Spotify the other day because someone was nagging me (which I realise is a good thing).

There is a certain calmness to it that gets washed away (ha!) by a feel of urgency. I really like it. (Also thank you for saving our oceans )

How do you set up the FM side of things? I really like the timbres you are getting out of this, and I feel like I struggle sometime with getting noise-y or only a few notes with a good timbre when I mess with JF’s FM abilities.

For this track I was just messing with the FM by hand, but never turning to either extreme. What I usually do is start in the middle or just a little CW (gets a nice low end that way) and just subtly move it CW or opposite- no crazy tricks really but I like how it sounds when it gets really intense for a really short period of time. Another thing I use in this one is white noise FM’ing Three Sisters- I’m in love with the tone colors I get from it!
