Re-release of Cementimental’s tape on RRRecords’ legendary Recycled Music series. Lo-fi wall-ish harsh noise and tape cutups I don’t remember making. This album was originally released on RRRecords Feb 2006, but then subsequently deleted from the RRR catalog - for reasons known only to Ron - at some point in 2013, during the time of the great Troniks forum meltdown. As far as I know the only other Recycled tape ever to have been deleted from the RRR Recycled catalog was the fake Gerogerigegege release, so I am in good company at least. :-S

This 2019 digital re-release was demastered from an artist copy of the tape. If I remember rightly the original master was recorded direct to cassette and the first generation master sent to RRR so I don’t have a master or digital copy.

Animoog improvisation, number 2.

this track is dedicated to the memory of a just passed friend, a great artist and comic book author.
only sound source is a sine oscillator on the er-301, heavily phase modulated by a live looper capturing the sine itself and passing it to a manual grains unit. plus a bunch of other stuff. a big part is played by magneto in pitch shifter mode, clouds granular mode and a fine lexicon lpx1 plate.

Something a little different… I just discovered video documentation of a live improvisation my old band performed along with a film artist. The film artist projected a triptych of found footage on old loop projectors, and we improvised a soundtrack.

This took place at the Niagara Arts Centre in St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada in December 2015.

I’m super late to the party, but I’ve just tried out the Octatrack and I’m getting the appeal. What a unique device for a hardware setup!

Perhaps you too were affected by David Berman’s passing. This piece is, in part, how I’m dealing with his suicide.

I never met him, but I know a bunch of folks who were part of his life. We had other commonalities. He was someone I assumed I might cross paths with someday.

I commit this music to his memory.

Marbles sending voltages to Mangrove and 3 Sisters then into the Morphagene. Lots of fun.

Korg iPolysix into fabfilter, into 1/4" tape, into bit reduction.

Norns is quickly becoming my favorite end-of-chain guitar processor. Cranes, Bounds, Otis, MLR, all over this track.

(Nod to @okyeron- the word “fates” has been stuck in my head as of late, no doubt due to that thread…)

This year’s acousmatic piece:

featuring tiny sounds, heavy granular action, crotales, rediscovered sounds from years ago recorded to MiniDisc™ using earbuds as microphones, a party in a park, scraped (drum)skins, unheard voices foretelling what happened, a desert field, —

My other label just announced we are releasing the new Blockhead album ‘Bubble Bath’ in November alongside this new single out yesterday, for fans of sample-y, hip-hop-ish, stuffs:

All the other places and album pre-orders etc https://ffm.to/bubblebath

I compiled this release of modular improvisations that I created over the past couple of years. Mainly Ciat-Lonbarde, Serge, Buchla, Mutable and BugBrand. Spent the better part of the last five years feeling unsettled and migrating from one system to another, learned a lot through this process and found my own way of integrating my practice into each format. Made a short performance video (filmed by @Angela) showing off some of the “turntable snare” stuff I’ve been worked on. Also filmed an explanation video too.
