I did my first solo performance with my modular setup yesterday at Les Digitales, Bern

I was quit nervous and sadly rushed the first part. I tried to look at the recorder’s clock to avoid rushing but got caught in the (awesomely good) moment and damn, at some point I realized that I was too far away in the progression. And also anecdotally my delay module just stopped working for a whole minute during the show.

Quit exciting though and I’m really looking forward to reiterate the experience.

My next album / LP, to be released on September 6th 2019. Listen to the sound snippets here:

Here’s my contribution to the Labor Day Jam session, made mostly with the Korg Minilogue, Volca Sample, and Digitakt with a bit of piano on top.

I decided to toss up a live set from around a year ago. It was the first solo set I played since my band broke up. I was just beginning to process a lot of hurt and sadness, so I couldn’t really revisit the music until recently. Now that I’m in a much more positive place, I feel comfortable sharing what ended up being the very beginning of a musical journey that has taken me to a lot of new places in a short time. These songs no longer reflect my current sound, but are a document of the early stages of healing and growth.

A senior citizen takes up Ableton. Thanks to co-producer Ethan Hein and mixer Aybar Aydin.

Here are three 1min excerpts from my performance at the Whitney Museum last month.

If you look closely behind me you can spot @tehn + @Galapagoose sitting on a rug

They sent me the whole 38min cut but I haven’t decided if I should upload it or not.

serge modular and a sample player from er301.
i am always trying to combine samples with live electronics, i find it extremely hard but the more i experiment with the er301 the more i think it’s (almost) possible to treat samples as “live” sounds.

this album is entirely dedicated to a good friend of mine who is a great influence on my musical evolution and is also helping me put together my new sound lab (Ipostasi - Laboratorio di Fonologia).

it is comprised of 10 tracks in the field of experimental\abstract music. various processes and tools are involved, even some software. after years of almost hardware only i used some of my max patches and a couple of tracks make use of Berna, a great app by Giorgio Sancristoforo that virtually rebuilds the glorious Centro di Fonologia Musicale RAI di Milano, one of the greatest electronic and electroacoustic studios of the world in the late 50’s\early 60’s.
i use also a very low register bansuri flute i just built (Nodens) but the centerpiece is almost always the er-301 Sound Computer and some of the tools i made with it (especially Bengiolino plus, Ssb and the Fibophon).
in some of the tracks you can listen to the wonderful tape echo i just repaired and brought back to life, the mighty Korg Stage Echo SE-300.
enjoy and support independent music

Excited to post a link here to today’s datacultaudio stream with my music in this weeks episode. Excited to have some music to share, and the deadline actually forced me to commit something to “tape” (though listening to it I still feel like it could be improved).

Anyway, monome is all over these tracks. Kria/Grid/Ansible sequencing my mostly euroserge system. Arc/Cycles/Ansible also doing heavy lifting on modulation. Plus, Norns really doing heavy lifting with norns MLR live looping in the beginning, and @enneff Rebound script near the middle. Everything was recorded in single live takes as a stereo track into either a ZoomH4N or Er-301.

would be great to get some feedback which is always appreciated. cheers.

So lately I’ve been struggling with high ambition and low self confidence, and also moving to a new city and stuff. It’s been a lot. It’s pretty difficult lately trying to motivate myself to make things, especially when I feel what I’m producing is sloppy/directionless/bland. I want to be doing more but I haven’t been able to make much headway. These are a few recent things I’ve made. I’m kind of hoping you might be able to give some thoughts on them. Thank you.
