Sound and pattern synthesis for kick, clap, hoover and vocal sample. File under undanceable dance music.

I’ve done a mixtape.

MIX 1: “FIRST MATERIALS”

"A collection of recordings dealing with transducers, motors, homemade string instruments, feedback, etc. Raw recordings, sketches, unfinished pieces, experiments.

Enjoy."

I took my shared System into the woods this morning …

Digital Crickets · Bisco Particle

First patch with the Qu-Bit Surface (thru Wasp filter), accompanied by Plaits and Telharmonic (thru Belgrad filter)

Recorded a live intermission and explained my approach in a voiceover for a recent tech conference (HashiConf) - just got the files, hope you enjoy. Most of the gear is not particularly fancy except for the Norns/Fates and the plywood grid but I am happy with how it came out.

MIX 2: SOFTWARE ENRICHMENT.

A collection of recordings dealing with software, including Max/MSP (Ppooll), Supercollider, Xynthi by Bhob Rainey, New Pulsar Generator by Marcin Pietruszewski, Composer’s Desktop Project by Trevor Wishart and more.

Experiments, finished and unfinished pieces, etc.

Hey folks, my first real exploration of the MARF here. So far I like it, but it wants a little more precision than I’ve been used to with my sequencers recently (primarily Serge Sequencer / Programmer). But while I’m largely in-between Serge setups, I wanted to see what I could do with this alone.

(I think for me it will open up more with some additional sequencers in the mix to sequence each other.)

The audio here is heavily processed by Boum, and there is a ct5 track too. Notable for me is that there is no BAM in this track; I’m trying out the Vongon Ultrasheer, which while not nearly as versatile as BAM, I really love what it adds so far.

It did help! It helped me describe the emotional state at the time I made it, and it also gave me a different frame of reference and motivation for making music.

Kind of a double win. I’ll try to keep doing this.

There’s a Drift of Signifieds track closing out this rather excellent mix by DJ Negative Skills aired during The Modular Hour at The Neon Hospice last night, with contributions from Sculpture, Kumo / Jono Podmore, Greypetcat, Seht, Design A Wave, Warmths, Meyer Huthwelker, Mark O Pilkington of Téléplasmiste and the inimitable Eden Grey:

Ambient modular experiment inspired by javanese gamelan tuning / pelog scale with pure data patch and process/transform use mutable instruments clouds in vcv rack :

Hi!
An ambient(ish) experiment from last week. I´ll eventually publish it on bandcamp (jspreis.bandcamp.com) with others as an album. Check it out!

When I first got the Quadrax and expander, I wanted to make a track using it as the only source of modulation and triggers. So this was the first experiment. Plaits, Surface, Pico Drums, Pico Drum2 thru Wasp filter, Plonk thru Belgrad.

Mix from rack into TC Electronic Flashback and Hall of Fame pedals.

Spacious and ethereal!

During warmup of Mos-Lab modular system (I take it about 20 minutes), I tried to create something unusual for me - don’t put any cv/gates to the system from keys or sequencer. As a plus, it was a good time to understand how RML fuzz and OTO BIM / BAM pairs with big modular.
Video quality is creepy as usual

About 60 modules involved in this. So too much going on to comment extensively. This one further manifests my interest in tempo change and tuning ‘imperfection’.

Early elements that led the way: Synthesis Technology E520 treating Furthrrr Generator and Verbos Harmonic Oscillator. E370 (sometimes FM’d by Just Friends) and Batumi send LFOs to Verbos HO. Tempo manually rendered via Pamela. Fundamental tonality manually rendered via Frap Tools 321 offset sent to mixer and distributed.

This is brilliant and took me back to an album I used to listen to daily.

This a ambient piece i made using my eurorack system:

A track built with the e950 in VCO A + e520 in Chowder algo as the “main melody”, E352 + e520 in diffusion flanger algo for bass, also e352 and e950 doing some crazy bleeps and blops here and there.

An old Page & Drage (raxil4 and Cementimental harsh noise sideproject) live recording re-released. This was FUN. Sounds like an extremely drunk Masonna
