Having a second go at the modes of melodic minor. This one has a very impressionistic vibe to me and I really like the floating feeling this conveys.

The patch for this one is fairly simple. It’s a simple drone made up of two EvenVCOs and the BF-22 and the Piano going into Clouds in granular mode. The output of the modular is then sent through a Revox A-800 tape maschine that I use as for it’s tape delay mode here.

New release out on Bandcamp today. Musically a bit all over the map, but that’s where I’m at right now. Thanks in advance for checking it out.

A collection of my lock-down works made in the last 5 weeks…

These pieces were created like an audio diary made under lock-down living. I would often wake up at 6am before my kids got up and would do an hour or so of random sound tinkering. Later after when my daughter was having her afternoon nap I’d revist the sound and start to make it into an arrangement. In the evenings I’d work on it some more and try and collect it into a finished piece. Sometimes I would start and finished a track within the same day, some times it would take a few days to complete.

Expect passages of minimal ambience, noisey drones, some static electricity, field recordings, dis-jointed harps, broken beats, turntablism, the odd glimmer of melodic pop and some some dubby techno. I’ve made recordings of tweeting birds, the drone of a washing machine, the sound of my kids chatting… lots of weird house sounds and even got a contact mic recordings from inside the greenhouse which I turned into a drone synth! Much fun and games. I’ve even got my old electric guitar out the loft and played that which is very rare for me!

Just uploaded a series of short improvisations to BC, limited to electric guitar as the source and various processing networks.

What a pleasure is to make music in any place: in your house, in the park, at the beach, sitting at the edge of a balcony… Technology nowadays is marvellous and lets you make something musicians never even dreamed of having within reach. And of course, in these places the music that arises is different, because you are different, because your mood is not the same. You are limited to use only one instrument and this, against what might seem, is equal to freedom. Like when you play the piano in the night in your bedroom, or the guitar in the loneliness of the camp enjoying nature. In these conditions you are in the limits (al límite).

An improvisation made during the quarantine. I really hope that all of you working artists are doing alright in all this chaos. Take it slow -

hello everyone!

my friend matthew sage (former owner of patient sounds, new owner of cached), and my long time friend gianni andreatta (who has worked on several projects w/ me!!) and i released a new digital album today!

here is a statement about the record:

seymour - andreatta, raymond, sage

“gianni andreatta, zander raymond, and matthew sage come together as a rare trio to create live and improvisatory tenderness and electronic felicity on “seymour.” the three, whose individual hands become almost undistinguishable in this formation, combine lush melodic impressions for guitar and synthesis nestled between nettlesome electro-acoustic textures and plinking digital utterances. Samples and guitar become arboreal architecture that air and light move through fluidly. guided as much by chance operation as by intuition, these 15 motions present a specific and organic form of home-grown digital impressionism.”

the record is streaming now for the next 45 hours on www.cached.media/ in the form of an asynchronous visual party of scanned fragments, images, etc! it is also downloadable via the cached bandcamp. it was a whole lot of fun to make, and i’m so excited for everyone to hear it!

“Rustle” is a project about Alienised Public Spaces.

Using generated music and tones and music combined with edited field recordings, the aim was to create alien soundscapes from human environments. In collaboration with Media Butcher, the project expanded into an A/V work, and became about reinterpreting human spaces into unfamiliar and sometimes disconcerting audio visual scenes.
The project has been gestating and gently morphing for a couple of years, but, now seemed like an appropriate time to begin releasing such a work.

“Manifold Crunch”, (the fourth released part), will be track five on the audio EP of the “Rustle” project.
All audio is created by Animal Botanic
All video is created by Media Butcher

Hi all,

here’s my latest new music - video work:

  • produced and directed in self-isolation and remote locations by mebitek & Jele Raus

  • in collaboration with AxAn, Carlo Porta, Mariana Millapan, Martin Chef, Veronica Sanna The

#Quarantine project doesn’t stop. #wedontstop #wedontgiveup

We have reached the third part of our project Quarantine - De Rerum Humanitate (literally “On Mankind”), struggling once again to reflect on the relationship between man and nature in relation to the condition we are facing. This current phase should encourage us to consider ourselves as part of a larger process, to put aside our wild individualism and consumerism, reconsidering our freedoms, which we punctually regret and reclaim, then using them to destroy and step on what we really are and are part of.

  • Lyrics: (Martin Chef - Jele Raus)

Mes chers compatriotes,

I don’t know

you I don’t feel you

I don’t know mercy

You always ask for yourself

You know nothing

But your own everything

Future is a spiral

The curve is viral

And my decision is final.

all music has been made with Maschine mk3 and Komple Kontrol S49 mk2

comments and feedbacks welcome

best regards from Sardinia

A few months back I scored this short film my friend shot and directed. Was an interesting experience writing to something, as opposed to just making up the structure as I went:

Only samples of a resonating piece of steel run through some awful tape in a Marantz machine formerly used for police interrogations. I can’t figure out if the name has meaning yet or not.

Finally working my way through Eli Fieldsteel’s SuperCollider tutorials, and loving every second of it. Today was BufRd and Pdef day.
