I just recieved the Zoom stereo shotgun mic. I hung it from my ceiling fan in my studio and did some imporvising with MLR64 on a norns shield, then sent that to my other shield to (poorly) finger drum using Timber. Then I edited that down and quick mastered it. I made a soundcloud just to share with y’all :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

My wife drew a hotdog.

Just gotta start putting sounds out there. They won’t all be winners, but I’m going to start uploading a track every Saturday.

I have a track on a compilation on the theme of “heaviness”, broadly interpreted. It’s name-your-price on Bandcamp and all proceeds are going to Communities United Against Police Brutality. Mine is #23, “Guard Rails Sag”.

It consists of recordings of a malfunctioning headphone jack and a functioning vacuum cleaner fed through several types of delay in parallel (Delay, Echo, Grain Delay, Replika XT) and overloaded compressors/limiters (including @airwindows’s Pressure4 – I’m also using Console and a lot of Interstage). I was going for the feel of a complex system drifting out of its prescribed limits and a control system sluggishly (and increasingly ineffectively) ““correcting”” it.

I’m not really happy with the ending in particular, or more precisely the transition between the main body of it and the ending, but I ran out of time after thinking I wasn’t going to be able to come up with anything at all almost right up to the deadline, and then banging this out.

I’m taking a short break from my very real job of trying to make a new album while locked down. But I wasn’t enjoying it the last week or so. So I’ve given myself a few days. It’s been a few years since I enjoyed the idea of the noise being the boss, but this sketch is all about that. Dunst and E-102 generate all the data. Various other modules moderate and distribute. The only sound sources are Dunst and DPO.

Regarding E-105, do you actually mean Synthesis Technology E102? A search here came up your Sep’18 post. “No mention here of the SynthTech e-105 which is a digital shift register and much more. http://synthtech.com/eurorack/E102/ It’s at the heart of my system. I love ASRs but drift is an issue if you’re working on melodic pieces, necessitating a quantizer after every output, which makes for a bulbous patch, to say the least. Quantize the input to the e-102 and you’re all set.”

Started experimenting with OBS and Droidcam, with a view to try live streaming at some point. New to making videos so please forgive any poor production or presentation values.
I’ve already realised that this is a great way of refining and practicing playing the modular synth. It’s been a while since I last played a gig and may be a good while yet - the camera’s eye feels like a good substitute for the pressure and immediacy of live performance, helping me focus rather than just noodling.

All events come from Teletype.
Pamela’s NEW Workout is the master clock.
All controls were done with the TXi.

Modular System <- SSP Module -> CV Tools

CV Tools receives the trigger signal and controls the M4L patch and AL effects. (real-time)

Super happy with this one. Here’s a real raucous track with the Octatrack at the centre, being wild in all the ways that the Octatrack does best. It’s hard to imagine even approaching these sort of master-level performance controls on anything else. Between the amp envelopes on audio inputs, and the scenes/fader for transitions and fills, there’s truly nothing else like it. Kind of surprising that no other hardware designer has tried to chase that OT magic.
