It has been a couple of weeks, can I post another one?

Edit: I just did a quick check and it’s much louder on Soundcloud than in browser, on my mobile anyway, should really listen on speakers or headphones, but you don’t need me to tell you that.

I had a bit of time during lunch today and made this. It’s two multitracked takes of Just Friends.

Track 1 - short sequence from Ableton, triggering Zdar with a single gate through a splitter, providing envelopes for 4 outputs from Just Friends. A little bit of hand wiggling with curve.

Track 2 - another short sequence from Ableton, with an envelope from CV Tools for 1 output of JF, and 3 more outputs being modulated in the VCA with LFO’s from ochd, and another ochd LFO going out to Curve on JF. An Ableton LFO modulating release time in the CV Tools envelope. Hand playing rate on ochd.

Reverb and delay from Valhalla, a bit of Goodhertz Tupe in there as well.

Not at all! Keep the anecdotes and videos coming, I find it very interesting (and fun). You could even create a new thread for this in my opinion if you keep experimenting.

Just a chill day of playing modular by the pool…

This track is taken from an improvised, generative live set I played out in Joshua Tree on October 1.The patch starts with Marbles driving Rings and Plaits for some downtempo bells and beats. Those were sent to Beads and FX Aid for swung delays. And then Kinks’ Noise was sent to Blades to generate windy sweeps. Finally, the big bass lead was Ears’ gate triggering a sequence in uO_C into Tides in audiorate mode. Some of the grit comes from doing audiorate logic operations on two of Tides’ outputs with Kinks.

For more details here’s my Modular Grid and the full patch notes are in the YouTube Description.

Thanks for listening!

I recently bought a new synth, the Dirtywave M8 Tracker, and here is the first track I wrote with it. It’s really a wonderful machine and very powerful and a delight to take it with you everyday for making music in any rest, at the bus or waiting at the dentist. I totally recommend it. It’s a very capable synthesizer, sampler and sequencer, so you can make complete tracks easily.
I think of this music as the soundtrack that could have sounded in a hipotetic Fez 2, a videogame that has not yet come true and maybe never will. Disasterpeace’s soundtrack for Fez is one of my all time favourite music.
A lot of FM sounds and semi-generative tricks were used. The M8 is perfect for these pseudo-random melodies and the FM built-in synthesizer sounds wonderful with those noisy grainy sounds.

Hahah I love the dancing Max patch! Also great work on the modelling – I can almost smell it here.

Here’s a loop I made today for lootober:

I’ve been taking the month of October and the looptober challenge to explore some physically based vocal synthesizers I’ve written (originally based off of pink trombone): a combination of a tract and glottis, as well as a means of expressively controlling them: something I am calling a gesture sequencer.

You can find more of my vocal synthesis loops on this funkwhale instance, and the code used to generate them is posted on my personal wiki.

Bought a strap for my Linnstrument for more rockstarish look and feel  Too bad whatever skill I think I had doesn’t translate really well, but this is just a first step.

For sound source I’m using Buchla 259e emulation from Softube Modular, two voices, really simple patch, but it creates a really strong impression of a wind instrument. Kinda spiritual vibes. Please enjoy!

Recorded a lengthy Techno jam track with Synthstrom Deluge, Norns Barcode, 1010music Blackbox and the Korg Kaoss Pad: Stream Drift along by j5ilence | Listen online for free on SoundCloud

Played the Disco Siren synth on the Kaoss Pad into Barcode, which makes for the nice whale like frequency sweeps. Recorded some silence in that take to sparse the sound out a little bit.

Botched the bass drone drop off near the end, but hey…

simple melodic track in two parts, teletype driven by hermod, muting
and various controls on grid, solo on knob (verbos complex)

Two hours lost to an unexpected (but welcome) tranquil state of mind during my first run out with @InfiniteDigitso-o-o (pronounced oh-dasho-dasho) script on Monome Norns Shield. This is a roughly 30 minute extract from that session, topped-and-tailed in Audacity.

I’m really happy with how this turned out.

Free download if you stick 0 in the amount field.

Two 6-step sequences going through SVF-201 and A-124, manually changing notes and adding and subtracting gates on Erica Black Sequencer. Finished and sent to my friend Filip, who sent it back 25% slower with the highs rolled off.
