My Norns came on Monday! Sat down and without knowing too much, played around until I had a couple pieces worked out.

A Rhodes sample was used for the first song, the preloaded Wurly sample for the second. Both pieces were played in Timber Keys, recorded to Tape and then fed into all 4 tracks of Reels where it was chopped up.

I’m so excited for seeing the ways that Norns will further bloom in my process!

i got the hoodie a few months back when my girlfriend and i saw the sun ra arkestra in san francisco. that was my fifth time seeing them. they did a live scoring of space is the place !! completely mind boggling. also, i recognized marshall allen walking around by himself on the street and this happened.

someone asked him if he was a musician to which he replied “i play saxophone”

Track 3 of my #52weeksofsound turned into a bit of an epic… couldn’t decide which of the three takes to use, so spliced them together

Taking a Depth Year approach with my #52weeksofsound; defining a small ‘orchestra’ and working with that.

  • Used poly fm module on pelog scale - inspired by tuning of the gamelan / non-western / microtonal.

Not really a track or a video, but here is documentation of a VR experience about the lifecycle of materials and elements I worked on creating last semester. It’s a fun blend of computer graphics, sound design, and game design. You can read more about it here if you are interested.

Absolutely beautiful - I love how the bell-esque FM feels appropriate for the pelog scale but doesn’t IMITATE instruments I associate with it - the sound feels organic and fused with the piece.
