Just broke out the microKORG for the first time in a great while and had myself a little impromptu 4track recording session. The sequencing was improvised using the NerdSEQ’s recording functionality. I panned each timbre as hard as I could opposite one another coming out of the synth in order to handle their EQ and effects separately in the mix, but unfortunately this is not an area in which the microKORG is particularly capable.

In any case, the session yielded an interesting little piece:

I snagged an old Fostex XR-7 for a song last weekend, so today I recorded this patch!

Super fun transposing sequences with TSNM, and using an offset to control the master tempo!

Long time lurker here - just ordered the Crow, so excited to finally play with some Monome gear haha, but thought y’all might enjoy my latest release: Slow Waves & Simple Sounds

It’s a two disc release, disc one “Slow Waves” is the new Oahu album I made with John Dieterich from Deerhoof. John sent me sounds to use as source material and I processed/performed/arranged them into the pieces presented here using eurorack, samplers, and tape.

Disc Two “Simple Sounds” is a selection of 40 short pieces (over 1000 exist to date) from my Instagram project #dailybleeps (@toddbotdotcom) - where every day I post an ambient soundtrack for a short video to Instagram. October 28 will mark five years of dailybleeps which is bonkers haha - the 40 tracks presented on Simple Sounds span all five years of the project, and each one can be looped to play infinitely.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and thanks for sharing so much great stuff here! I’m pretty quiet on forums, but Lines has long been a wealth of inspiration and encouragement

Episode seven of Soundscapes Radio. In this episode I pushed myself to create a 30-minute piece with a single theme/motif. The piano melody at the beginning remains throughout the entire 30 minutes but doesn’t loop once. The piece is broken into three movements but remains coherently tied together in theme. The name of this suite, The Cloud Nocturnes, comes from a nod to both György Ligeti and his idea of creating “Cloud”-like textures with the orchestra and the “Nocturne” compositions by Chopin & Debussy et al.; i.e. music inspired by, or evocative, of the night.

Thank you for listening! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this series of compositions… I respect the llllllll community greatly for the knowledge it has shared and would hope that my music might resonate with some of you!

Its been a while. I have about 4 tracks ready for a release, but I also really wanted to figure out my audio/video set up. Now on to color grading.

The Zoia is set up as a custom step sequenced looper that takes chunks of the bass sound from the BIA and feeds back on itself. Sampling and pitch shifting based on CV from the Rene.

My new album, featuring two new tracks, released recently under my project Atom States.

I’m quite happy with how it turned out and I consider it my best mixing and engineering yet. I also decided to get it professionally mastered this time instead of using LANDR and I think it’s a lot more coherent that way.

Some gear I used:

  • Minilogue
  • Monome
  • Kria
  • Mannequins modules
  • Morphagene
  • M32

Cheers.

Been playing with super aggro guitar music vibes with classic metal techniques. Plus, this is the first song in a long time where I sing intelligibly. I enlisted my friend to provide live drums overtop my sample drums, and the result is, in my opinion, pretty heavy. I’m incrementally getting better at producing full mixes in my modest apartment studio, but any critique welcome…

Pleased to say that I’ve released an album of live hardware jams. They most revolve around the Elektron boxes (Octatrack, Four, Rytm, Digitone, Heat, Monomachine, Machinedrum) but with a bunch of other great gear as well. I’ve been putting the tracks up on YouTube and been super happy with the response, but compiling them into an album is (for me) where the magic happens.

Please give it a spin sometime!:

I’m also about to release my very first album. I put out my first single recently, and it’s out on iTunes and Spotify!
