It’s nice to have friends to make music with, even at a distance. It’s also nice to have gear that just does all the jobs well. Here’s me and my drummer friend, and me and my Analog Four. The drummer is all the talent, and the A4 is all the melodic sound. Amazing how much you get with these Elektron boxes, and the A4 in particular gives you plenty of beautiful material to work with.

Inspired in part by the livestream from @Galapagoose, I did some crow scripting sequencing the modular. I did a video to showcase it, and the script is also available: https://gist.github.com/lctrt/fcc5c598b187b055b90d6b68f5fad469

Another video filmed by @Angela.

The sampler uses custom software to analyze the audio coming from a Sensory Percussion pickup to browse the sample library using loudness, spectral centroid (“brightness”) and spectral flatness (“noisiness”), rather than having to individually map each sample to a position or region on the drum.

This one will be online until May 10th.

I did music and sound for this web installation about people living in Detroit.
You can press play on multiple videos and move them around to create your own mash up of stories and music.

https://varscenefest.org/city-dwellers-8/

About the installation:
As the city itself, this installation consists of a myriad of individual voices. The city is what brings them together.

City Dwellers # 8 forms part of a series of city portraits created by Tale Næss. The portraits consist of a myriad of comments, outcries and confessions. Together they create a web of events, or, like the city itself, a feedback loop of voices. An enclosing room of sound.

In the eighth edition of City Dwellers, the project has gotten a digital format. Here, Tale Næss turns back to the starting point of the project, a trip to Detroit in 2017. The audience will get access to visit and explore 16 video clips from the city, accompanied by a specially composed sound image and a series of read texts.

City Dwellers #8 is a part of Tale Næss’ PHD at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO).

My fresh video with eurorack composition based on my new Soma Lyra8 FX module. Here I used it with Mutable Instruments Plaits to create crispy pad sound. Also, Marbles and Rings for random melodies. You will find more explanations on YouTube under this video.

Better to listen with headphones at high volume to hear all beauty of Soma FX distortion.

“Rustle” is a project about Alienised Public Spaces.

Using generated music and tones and music combined with edited field recordings, the aim was to create alien soundscapes from human environments. In collaboration with Media Butcher, the project expanded into an A/V work, and became about reinterpreting human spaces into unfamiliar and sometimes disconcerting audio visual scenes.
The project has been gestating and gently morphing for a couple of years, but, now seemed like an appropriate time to begin releasing such a work.

“Wake Up Little Droner”, (the fifth released part), will be track four on the audio EP of the “Rustle” project.
All audio is created by Animal Botanic
All video is created by Media Butcher

A short piece recorded on Analog Keys, pretty simple stuff, but I love the mood here.

Live performance using modular synth (w/ CV Tools)

It is the 5th work that focuses on the atmosphere.

All sound sources come from Percussa SSP.
All events come from teletype.
Pamela’s NEW Workout is the master clock.

CV Tools receives the trigger signal and controls the M4L patch and AL effects. (real-time)

Thanks for watching.

(:headphones:I recommend listening with earphones or headphones.:headphones:)

I listened this morning when it popped up in my YouTube feed. Really splendid. So much going on, motion under the surface.

Last week’s Junto and Naviar Haiku prompts felt like two sides of the same coin, in more ways than one - usually they feel very different to me. I collected my contributions to both in a single:

Here’s an old ambient patch I made on a Make Noise Shared System I found recently.

I never did a performance video so instead I recorded some rain falling on a puddle for some visuals :black_heart::cloud_with_rain:

Some ambient cassette tape explorations with the Matriarch in drone mode, the Octatrack for samples and performance mixing (i.e. scenes), and an old Marantz tape recorder. Not my usual wheelhouse, but rewarding to try new territory.
