Uploaded new ambient modular tracks, all sounds use only one module as sound source : Mutable Instruments Plaits in VCV Rack. Approach in minimalist direction, truth of the materials, less effects, and free improv / no overdub.

Dear All,

my name is Alex and I have been reading on this forum for several years, but this is my first time posting. So first of all I wanted to thank this wonderful community for all the great inspiration and friendliness that I have come across! I always find something interesting and/or thought provoking when reading through the different threads. Thank you very much!

I wanted to take this opportunity to also share something that I have been working on for the last several weeks. It is a custom made sensor board with five infrared sensors and two gyroscope sensors (arduinos) connecting to max msp for sound generation. The monome grid is giving control to some more functions of the patch and there is a generic midi controller just for controlling sound levels of individual parts. I am developing this as part of a programme I am doing in Manchester, UK (although technically at this moment it is more like distance learning because of university shutdown due to the ongoing pandemic).

This project is also one of my first foray into max msp and I really love this software. There is something very satisfying in building individual tools and instruments! (Although rather time consuming :)) )

I am still developing - but then, is there ever a point when a max patch is going to be finished?? I get the impression, that will never happen… :slight_smile:

These days I am trying to learn a bit more of ORC/. For this video I wanted to explore the sample engine (Timber) from Norns, so I loaded in a few samples: some retro drum machines and some old wavs I recorded long time ago. I also added a MIDI sequence that was reproduced with one voice of my modular synth. (Befaco Midi Thing, Doepfer A-110 Standard VCO and A-106-5 SEM VCF, ALM Pamela NW, Happy Nerding 3xVCA, Xaoc Devices Zadar and Praga)

Not the latest. Three years old. So, sinning, as it were.

With Florian’s passing, assessment seems in order. Not that this is overtly KWesque. Perhaps the latest is.

This particular piece was composed, practiced, and performed for my—as of yet—sole public modular performance. Undergirding it is continual manipulation of ER-101 and Circadian Rhythms.

Hello dears, after few months I back to my great love teletype.
Here is used as main random sequencer using three lines of quantized CV:
every CV line goes into a gate line made by dividing main clock:
EVERY 8: $1 which is CV 1 N QT RAND 48 7; TR.P 1
EVERY 5: $2 which is CV 2 N QT RAND 48 7; TR.P 2
EVERY 3: $3 which is CV 3 N QT RAND 48 7; TR.P 3

My partner, Nerea Bello, and I have been separated by the lockdown in different cities these last couple of months, so we decided to try and collaborate on a piece of music for meditation in these days of isolation. This is her voice and hands, and my modular synth and Norns. Lots of use of @Olivier’s magical Compass, as well as Earthsea on Kria controlling Plaits and Just Friends through mimeophon and arbhar. Hope you enjoy… it’s a bit long, but worth waiting for Nerea’s voice!
