A small teaser of the upcoming episode eleven of Soundscapes Radio. I wanted to start working a lot more with real instrumentation and finding a satisfying blend between real and synthesis.

Ambient experimental music (collab project) based on spoken words of Chinese language, human voice process to granular synthesis, field recordings, and modular synth sounds.

I’m taking a short break from my very real job of trying to make a new album while locked down. But I wasn’t enjoying it the last week or so. So I’ve given myself a few days. It’s been a few years since I enjoyed the idea of the noise being the boss, but this sketch is all about that. Dunst and E-102 generate all the data. Various other modules moderate and distribute. The only sound sources are Dunst and DPO.

Quite nice.

Regarding E-105, do you actually mean Synthesis Technology E102? A search here came up your Sep’18 post. “No mention here of the SynthTech e-105 which is a digital shift register and much more. http://synthtech.com/eurorack/E102/ It’s at the heart of my system. I love ASRs but drift is an issue if you’re working on melodic pieces, necessitating a quantizer after every output, which makes for a bulbous patch, to say the least. Quantize the input to the e-102 and you’re all set.”

Started experimenting with OBS and Droidcam, with a view to try live streaming at some point. New to making videos so please forgive any poor production or presentation values.
I’ve already realised that this is a great way of refining and practicing playing the modular synth. It’s been a while since I last played a gig and may be a good while yet - the camera’s eye feels like a good substitute for the pressure and immediacy of live performance, helping me focus rather than just noodling.

Hope you enjoy, please subscribe and comment if you wish!

Ambient / drone live looping with hybrid synthesizer (multi-algorithmic DSP sound engine, like Mutable Instruments Plaits). Using my custom patches that inspired by atmospheric music and Javanese gamelan sounds.

Live performance using modular synth (w/ CV Tools)

It is the 7th work that focuses on the atmosphere.

All sound sources come from Percussa SSP.
All events come from Teletype.
Pamela’s NEW Workout is the master clock.
All controls were done with the TXi.

Modular System <- SSP Module -> CV Tools

CV Tools receives the trigger signal and controls the M4L patch and AL effects. (real-time)

Thanks for watching.

(:headphones:It is recommended to listen with earphones or headphones to enjoy stereo imaging.:headphones:)

Something new featuring a drone from the microfreak, a glitchy acoustic guitar loop, and live electric guitar being processed by a couple of pedals.

Correct. My mistake. Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll amend both posts.

Super happy with this one. Here’s a real raucous track with the Octatrack at the centre, being wild in all the ways that the Octatrack does best. It’s hard to imagine even approaching these sort of master-level performance controls on anything else. Between the amp envelopes on audio inputs, and the scenes/fader for transitions and fills, there’s truly nothing else like it. Kind of surprising that no other hardware designer has tried to chase that OT magic.

Playing with noise. Video generated using FFmpeg, I like that tool a lot. If anyone’s interested, I’ve written a short blog post about generating similar visualisations: https://merely.xyz/#ffmpeg-tutorial

I recently had the idea to try and control a granular patch on Morphagene with the Tetrax’s gesture outputs. I loaded up a field recording of a stream and this slow burning ambient patch emerged :grimacing: I left some mildly detailed patch notes in the YouTube description too :+1:

The track is my first experimentation with Moog DFAM and my custom eurorack system.

The video is a tribute of the 1993 experimental movie “Engineering Red” (Конструктор красного цвета) directed by Andrey I from which I take some footage parts and mixed with performance eurorack modular visuals.

never stop modular experimentation

Patch notes:

  • Drums: DFAM (kick + snare), Pico Drum (hit-hats)
  • Sequencer: Beatstep Pro (lead, hats, snare)
  • Main Voice: DPO
  • Bass: DFAM
  • FX and ambient voices: Loquelic Iteritas through QPAS, morphagene custom reel, Telharmonic, DPO final through Echophon
  • reverb: Erb-verb
  • Main modulation: Clep Diaz
  • additional modulations: Maths, Function, Wooglebug, micro o_C, Pressure Points, René

using Haven, Bounds, Compass, with an Invader Box and two Lyra-8 noiz beasts.

I made this track using only the samples, which were sent by soma lab for some kind of contest.

New track so far, kind of ambientronica
Eurorack, hardwire stuff.During this track I found that OTO Bam UX/UI is great if I spend sometime on it.

warm and enveloping. Thank you for sharing. Really love the depth here. So many layers interacting well together!

Sequenced from the teletype (as usual), trying to open up for more generative surprises. Full patch notes in description on youtube.
