Great to know what the plan is. Thanks Thorsten, -and for the update and all the work you have put in so far getting this set up.

Proper sit down with the samples today. Have created my kit and programmed a nice dnb break.

I can’t remember who’s samples are all in the kit but a lot of repitching and filtering has went on. Got a second kit running under the main loops from @rdfm’s riddim. And love @Simeon’s melody so that’s in there too, @Angela’ percussion has been repitched chopped and added as a kinda hihat loop.

I’ve never written at 208bpm before! It’s fricken quick! But I hope I can create something listenable from what I’ve started.

Plan on making a sample instrument or two to add some melodies, then learn how to make swooshy risers. Hopefully I’m on course.

Edit: almost finished with the general structure now… Apologies in advance!

bumping the thread to see how everybody is doing with their respective tracks.
any questions? anything you’d like to share at this stage?
myself, i’ve been traveling for the past 2 weeks and will be on a plane again tonight.
let’s see if i even manage to finish my own contribution

I’ve made a couple attempts. Feels like I’m starting to settle into a process that mostly involves ER-301, White Whale, and Kria. Still refining my process for slicing in ER-301. Nothing ready to share yet.

Finished my track. I went on with ‘shuffle/matching’ the files in each folder and than mixing the finished files from each folder(10) with each other. So, my song(?) kinda came together with luck.

So, originally I used all of the samples, either complete or a small segment. But with mixing the sounds together, some(or most) of the sounds disappeared. No idea who’s samples made it to the finished song.

The piano-parts were the most noticeable, so I let those slightly repeat.
Looking forward to all the end results

Finished my track yesterday, and will try to resist tinkering with it between now and the submission date. Ended up using only 6/7 of the samples. It will be interesting to see how much overlap there will be in the samples folk have elected to use.

True to form i have an almost complete tune that will end up in the bin. Now experimenting with randomised loop slice selections.

Started a track just when the samples were released. Havent put much time into it. The deadline will help. Deadlines always help.

Just started mine last night, but really really like what I came up with. Will see where it goes

Take #1
Running some samples thru echophon and phonogene. Pretty happy with some parts of the recording.

So it seems I have almost finished. Made a generative instrument rack and messing about with arp settings and have a pleasant sound happening. Need to get fingerdrumming tomorrow for some experimental/lofi beats and it’ll be all good in the hood.

Jammed out a little performance this evening. Kinda got into a zone an ended up with polyrhythmic ambient ish epic 7min+ tune!

Will take a look at sound design later as I wasn’t too happy with the mix of tones or the levels (too low as usual for me). Also want to add in more sounds in general as I have not used that many.

All in all I am really happy with where this is heading, I’m learning a lot and having a lot of fun experimenting.

The pressure is on!

I’m having so much fun with this, somehow I’ve harkened back to the process that my friends and I used to make shitty hip hop and nudisco tracks with. This process consists of just looping samples and sequences in ableton arrangement view. But given everything I’ve learned in the last couple years of making quasi-shitty house and techno tracks I’ve managed to reach some sort of relatively unshitty (to me at least) middle ground. I gotta say the limitation of not being able to add a ton of soft synths as i usually would is such a refreshing way to go about this all.

Can’t wait to hear all of your creations!

oh, i’m glad i have forgone my idea of transferring all the samples to tape and working from there, because it’s already hundreds of regions in that session and i’m yet stuck at the first minute mark ._.

feel like i have been nearly finished for ages now.

shuffled thru a bunch and settled on three: declutter, test2, and jah

beat is done
