oh no, no worries — didn’t take offense, it was just an existential moment of like “oh, is that what it looks like in there??” like seeing an x-ray or MRI.

@DuellingAnts

What was the original sound source on this? Dirge has added so much beauty to the sample.

It was this sound mashed up in an instrument rack I made years ago!

That is like a before and after advert for Less Concepts.

Thank you so much! love this already!

This is really amazing. thanks so much for doing this! always have drooled over a Norns.

just a note that i was blindly following the instructions on how to use the console in the “to try it out” example, and you left out the “:” after “seed” in the two lines. eventually realized thats why it wasn’t working after reading the list further down. also, might want to say that you have to close the console for the meta seq to start working. perhaps these things are obvious, but not having worked with many max devices, i did get stuck on this for a bit.

but now its running smoothly, driving JF through crow and its pure bliss.

ooooo great notes, thank you! and excellent track – gorgeous timbres :hugs:

speaking of documentation, i realized last night that bringing less concepts into m4l is helping to engage new folks in a system that hasn’t been fundamentally new to someone in over a year. i’m so so excited by this, but realize that more detail could be really helpful.

so…

see first post for pdf manual!

v1.1 released!

adds:

  • horizontal composition in the meta-seq (mega thanks to Ben Bracken at C’74)!
v1_bit: rand 1 6, seed: 30, clock: 8nt <~~~ executes all three commands at once

  • new seq_[x] command!
    seq_1: 1, seq_2: 1, seq_3: 1 <~~~ sets sequencers 1,2,3 to line 1 on their next tick

  • new chord_[x] command!
    chord_2: 1 <~~~ toggles chord voice 2 on

fixes:

  • when clocks were heavily modulated through the meta-seq, they wouldn’t re-trigger steps correctly (big ups to @rbxbx for the report!)

new device and PDF docs <~~ click!

also, really, thank y’all so much for engaging with these tools. it is so meaningful to contribute to y’all’s processes :hugs:

An update so quickly! Thanks much - I’m loving this as a guide for sound design. Recorded a bunch of midi and audio from a hardware synth yesterday with all sounds inspired by the generated patterns.

I’m thinking I’ll use Link and the IAC bus to pump this into Bitwig and make Grid patches around the figures it puts out.

@dan_derks , you’ve probably altered my personal musical trajectory as much as anyone else that I can think of in the last year. Thank you for building such thoughtful, useful tools. Unleashed a very simple LC sequence upon the Perfourmer today in standard mode. It’s like cheating!
