Metapop.com constantly has remix competitions, in which you get access to the source material… which you may be able to use outside of the competitions (read closer than me, obvs). They tend towards more DJ-oriented music.

https://sounds.com/ used to send me updates all the time about high quality free samples they hosted. I think they are connected to Metapop (?), and I only started receiving sounds emails after the Landr or Metapop sign-up.

Landr’s move into the samples space: https://blog.landr.com/landr-free-sample-packs/

Kinda random sounds here: https://freesound.org/browse/

Better for spoken word samples, and historical recordings: http://www.ubu.com/sound/

Can’t seem to upload to this. Is there a way to link it with edit/write permissions enabled?

Updating this thread title to be more current

I think there was another thread created about the community sample sharing, so this might cause confusion.

Here it is: Llllllll sample pack

BBC sound effects
http://bbcsfx.acropolis.org.uk

British Library archive
https://sounds.bl.uk

National archives
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/films/

I think it would be nice to use a site like freesound.org for all the original sample content – we could simply come up with a tag for the Lines community samples such as “llllllll”, which would allow easy browsing of all Lines-specific samples.

For the drum breaks and other samples lifted off records and such, Dropbox or something similar would of course work fine.

Just a word of caution regarding sampling from other folks songs or recordings…

Be careful! Nothing ruins one’s day like a copyright claim…

Here’s a sample pack of drum kits I made with a DSI Mono Evolver back when I still had one. Feel free to use whatever you like! There’s an FM kit, a glitch kit, some Karplus-Strong hits, and a bunch of shakers and snares. I think I recorded these at 48k but it’s been so long I can’t actually remember. If not then they’re at 44.1.

Hey lines friends,

It has been hard not to feel quite a bit overwhelmed by everything that is going on around the world in regards do COVID-19, the politics here in Brazil, and so on.
I wanted to do something to try to help other people, specially other musicians / artists / producers, get through these delicate times so I figured I’d share some samples and presets that I’ve created for my own personal collection throughout the past decade.

I’ve put together 1000 samples that I’ve recorded from synths and drum machines I’ve had in my collection as well as 100 presets that I’ve created for the Korg Monologue synth.

It’s all available for free at http://spektroaudio.com/blog/2020/3/18/free-sample-pack-amp-monologue-presets

The sample pack includes one-shot samples and loops that I’ve created using the Deckards Dream, Korg Monologue, littleBits SynthKit, Lell UDS 2 (a soviet drum machine), Moog Slim Phatty, Reco Drum (a brazilian drum machine made by Arthur Joly), Roland TR-606 and the Yamaha TQ5.
All the files are properly labeled and organized so you can easily find something that you can use for your creations.

I think there’s a lot of useful stuff there, specially for those looking for material to use in their Octatracks, Digitakts, Norms, and other samplers.

Hope you guys enjoy it and please be safe

PS: I’ve uploaded the sample pack to Dropbox so it’s easier for everybody to download it.

I don’t have access to my full prepared piano samples, so I was looking for a free alternative and I came across the Are you Prepared free prepared piano samples. I thought you might be interested.

I put together another pack of drum samples, this time made with a DSI Pro 2. I was going for dusty, softer sounds for this set but there are also a handful of glitchier bits in there. My favorites of the bunch are the brushed snares, which I’d never really attempted to synthesize before.

These are all 16 bit, 48k mono. I did not normalize them but that should be easy enough to do on your end if you wish.

I couldn’t figure out how to access the samples on that page…

  1. Click on the play button in the middle of the screen

  2. Click on the FREE DOWNLOADS tab

  3. Choose the download pack that fits your needs.

Not free (although the proceeds are being donated to protect the Amazon) but this $6 drum sample pack from Nicola Cruz (of ZZK Records) looks pretty rad. Haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, but I’m excited to mess around with this!

kind of an obtuse use of github
if anyone can run one of these samples through their norns, tape machine, or maxpatch
(plz fork it, flip it, and submit a pull request, then I can merge it into this sample pack!)

Hi, the Trans-Siberian Railway sound archive (on Freesound) is a collection of field recordings made during a train-trip from Vladivostok to Helsinki in the autumn of 2019. The clips document complete train maintenance work cycles performed by engineers, the movement of passengers at various stations and the ambience of different compartments. Focus is given to details such as the train toilet, the rattle of a wagon samovar and the work of the train-steward.

The indexing of the files a bit messy. Here are some of my favorites to get you started.

I don’t know if there is a better thread for this, but someone on elektronauts posted this great sample pack at Reverb, definitely worth the price of free:

Hi all, anyone interested to one on one trade some custom analog drum samples, wetransfer it?

I have about 200 analog samples, designed or processed on analog synths / valve amps. Ranging from classic style analog to grungy noisey, some.

Free to use in music production and release, not free te redistribute unaltered. Something like that.

Let me know. Cheers!
