Thanks again for the kind words all. Will start collecting sets later tonight.

Bit tough to get everything in frame btw, so here’s my full setup from the live stream.

@noiserock another notification coming your way  Thanks for organizing, had a blast both playing and listening.
Here is my stream with a preroll removed:

Please do not check if your audio interface is dropping frames my songs just sound that way
From the technical side of things I mostly used:

  • blue noise through waveshaper
  • two befaco rampage outputs into modulo and xor operator in ornament and crime (the beat and the crackle)
  • obligatory rings into clouds for granular effect (with teletype sequencing the v/oct of clouds)
  • juno played by hand for the short motif that shows up at the beginning of the second half

For visuals I used HE_Mesh library:

I used:

Turntable (with lock groove record) into the Eurorack via Ears, going to:
Clouds (in ‘Spectral Madness’ mode)
4ms SMR, with Beatstep sequencing the ‘Frequency Nudge’
Echophon, with Wogglebug modulating the echo time for scratchy scratchies

Circuit bent SK-1

iPad running Alchemy

Chinese language instruction cassettes (which were supposed to be running through the Kaoss Pad, but it died)

Lap steel through my pedal chain into Sooperlooper

brandnewnoise little battery powered looping kalimba, through my mic into some weird reverse reverb in Rakarrack

Thank so much to @noiserock for all the effort to make this happen, it was such a great event.

In case anyone is wondering, here are the setup details:

  • Deluge mainly as sequencer, but also for a field recording later in the set
  • Bugbrand “red” as the primary sound source – DRM2, DRM1+expander, Chirper, Crossover Filter (as three frequency sine wave generator), PTDelay
  • OTO Boum and Bam as master reverb and slight compression
  • Lexicon LXP-5 as pitch shift delay played live with the MRC remote controller
  • ancient Mackie 1402 mixer

I just put my video up here for posterity:

I also did a longer version of this set for an upcoming live recording showcase that I will share when it’s up.

Dude, what were you doing around 10:30? The fuzzy drone side-chained to the kicks. So many goosebumps. That’s that feeling I often strive for with my work.

Thanks! I stumbled onto some serious vibes there. Ive had that part of the patch for like a month now and when I want to release some energy I just go straight to it. Just unpatched it!

Its just friends controlled by Awake via norns. C Major pentatonic with the bpm slowed down to like 5bpm. Just friends is running through the vintage synth lab vsl mkII which is the distortion. The kick is an 808 sample in the 301 and the sidechain is also happening there. Its a simple reverse envelope triggered by the kick on the whole signal. I had never made any sort of side-chain compression before so Im not sure if its the right way, but I liked how it sounded.

Question for you all:

for the collected performances, where would you all prefer I upload them? YouTube is probably the simplest free option.

YouTube works for me! :+1:

I can host them on the Community of Sound Vimeo account if you like. There are no ads there.

if you’re still collecting sets, i clipped mine here

can also provide a direct download if that’s better (but it’s just going to be ripped from twitch anyway so quality won’t be any higher :saxophone::upside_down_face:)

Sorry about the delay.

I’ve only managed to finish up the Saturday portion of the “collected” works. You wanna have a peek and check if we are all comfortable with this being the style for the Sunday collection(s)? I will add markers for each performance later.

OLD VIDEO DELETED

I should have everyone’s performances DLed.

Finally, I’ve gotten around to uploading all of the sets collected into a convenient playlist, and markers for each set in the video descriptions.

Sorry that this took so long. Had quite the bunch of technical issues along the way. Hopefully everything is good now. Enjoy! Will do a summary of the event soon.
