Swedish music history from the first electron music pioneers to today’s The Knife and Robyn.
It started in the 50s when it now forgot the composer Rune Lindblad falls asleep in a park in Gothenburg and finds that the sounds in the city are also music. Today, 60 years later, Swedish DJ superstars fill arenas worldwide. From having been a concern for a few people in Sweden’s then only electronic music studio, music creation with computer has become almost a popular movement. Electronic music is today larger than pop and rock together for many young people. How did it happen?
In the film we meet artists such as Adam Beyer, Robyn, Twice A Man, Stonebridge, Marina Schiptjenko and Midaircondo, together with record company directors and vision makers. In addition, there are lots of typical archive clippings - electron music pioneers, synthesizers and shredders.
Power for the people (Ström åt folket) wants to sort out all the relationships. How society, technology and artists have influenced and influenced. How the music developed over the years alongside other music - then explode to today’s commercial international successes.
The movie is cut at the same tempo as the music, 125 bpm. All music, all interviews and all archival material are in pace and form a kind of documentary remix or contemporary mash-up.
The film is made by Håkan Lidbo together with his colleagues who previously made the radio program Ström in Sveriges Radio P2; Mats Almegård, Andreas Tilliander and Hanna Kihlander. Simon Carlgren has cut with Iacopo Patierno as b-clip, Johan Söderberg has been the advisor to the entire project. Producer is Patrik Hambraus.
