great documentary and great character – some of his ideas/approaches reminded me of Don Buchla.
I saw it ages ago and I remember it was even on utube but unfortunately no more.

I happened upon this doc last week. A wonderful portrayal of the band and their fans.

Great stuff, thanks for this!

I finally bought Elektro Moskva and absolutely loved it so I went back for the extras. I knew that some of the Formanta etc synths were temperamental but I (perhaps quite stupidly) never really considered that it was because parts were at such a premium that many instruments were literally constructed from components foraged from scrap. Amazing!

Gi aiueosu: Tazan no ishi o motte onore no tama o migakubeshi (2017)

Using their sound and film equipment like musical instruments, the members of the band GUI AIUEO:S create an audiovisual work of art. On their journey, they search for UFOs, meet odd hermits, and are introduced to the sustainable toilet. Go SHIBATA, winner of the 2011 NIPPON VISIONS AWARD, presents an eccentric performance-roadmovie-documentary

haven’t watched yet, but looks like my kind of thing

Lightning Bolt: The Power of Salad & Milkshakes

(they are “electronic” enough for this thread in my books, even tho they are kind of not obviously)

The first time I saw Lightning Bolt in Providence I was 15 and had no idea what a DIY venue was never mind that I was going to one when I asked my dad to drop me off. I just knew that I liked loud noise music and Brian Chippendale’s art. I think the venue was called The Living Room but I’ve had a hard time finding a search term that doesn’t bring me to DIY furniture so idk really. Their set at around midnight (and the hours of unexpected openers) really made an impression. I’ve seen them a handful of times since but I miss when they played on the floor in the crowd.
