Did anybody ever have issues with Facebook suddenly blocking the embed for an in-progress live stream due to alledged copyright concerns?

Basically we are streaming the Futurological Congress right now, which is all going through facebook, but the embed we have on the website of the congress stopped working saying:
“This video can’t be embedded because it may contain content owned by someone else.”

It all seems to have happened when the person giving the talk showed a video, so maybe that triggered something. But there was no communication from Facebook about it, nor anything else that would help to identify the problem. So maybe it’s something else entirely.

we just announced three ticketed streaming shows:

they’re all pre-taped and i’m really excited about how they’ve gone so far. it’s been interesting to watch other paid/unpaid concert streams and see what feels like it works (and doesn’t) in the format. not sure if this resonates with anyone here but i’ve been noticing that concerts that try to behave like normal concerts (i.e. on a stage, in a venue, even all band members facing outward?) have a depressing undertone to me, especially when the first song ends and there’s no applause. after watching a few and feeling it out we decided to try and lean into what was possible in this situation that wasn’t possible on a normal tour, like having the camera/audience very close and intimate, using fragile/tempermental/logistically impractical instruments we’d probably never take on the road, or facing inwards like we’re at practice.

very interested to hear if anyone has thoughts on what works or doesn’t for them both as a performer and an audience member in this medium!

tech side note: we’re doing them through noonchorus which seemed like the easiest / most fluid platform. anyone have experience with them?

oh and if you want to get tickets they’re here - if any lines people want to watch em but money is tight just pm me closer to the show and i’ll do the digital version of putting you on the guest list.

sounds cool :slightly_smiling_face:
even thinking about "what would work with the way things are right now?
seems like an informed artistic perspective (rock n’ roll)
bravo

Fifth or sixth regarding Twitch.tv. I follow a few DJs that play 1-4 times a week, usually with 40-120 people tuned in. I mull over the idea of an overhead cam watching my hands twiddle knobs and scrub cassette tape back and forth but not organized yet… but that is more likely to have a draw of 3 or 4 people (while the DJs are all more club-oriented).

Yesssss… I have over 20 bookmarks of various soundmakers on web pages, and never sure how to best bring them into the DAW – either playing from a second device into the laptop’s mic port, or taping on a cassette and dubbing back in. Phone to laptop works ok, but BlackHole would open up playing a few Chrome tabs at once.

Freshly uploaded from a live set at The Neon Hospice is Live and Indirect Vol. 4, featuring Awake synced to an Analog 4 on percussion and making extensive use of the new track probability function on the latter. The balloon rubbing on a blackboard sound that eventually appears was probably a result of letting @Cementimental’s Fort Processor modulate a 0-Coast with the output under salad light control and an overzealous application of Clouds. Probably.

the first of our shows aired last night, here’s a snippet of us covering gillian welch’s ‘everything is free’ and one of our own songs, the sampled loop that provides the rhythm is coming from cheat codes and a live sampled acoustic guitar.

For anyone looking for a bit of de-stressing tonight (as I will be), there’s an ambient/calming sound stream benefit for our local YEAHRocks kids rock camp happening now. I plan to play some soothing sounds around 11pm Central time. There’s a delightful gong drone artist chilling our nerves right now… http://bit.ly/OASISOFRESPITE

It’s all free to listen, but donations to YEAHRocks are kindly appreciated.

Cool, this is the first concert I’ve seen announced on the new platform. Would love to hear any thoughts you have on the experience/process after it’s over. Have a good show!

Looks like I’ll be doing a live stream with a friend (as the wonderful just founded duo Agente Levitante) for Analogica Festival on the 5th of December. The exact time is still TBD sorry, but I’ll update as soon as I know. Covid did mess up all the plans (just like everybody’s).

Update, the livestream will be freely visible here (through Vimeo) on the festivals website:

Hello! I will be premiering a 15 minute live set as part of a virtual creatives conference being put together by a central Florida online magazine called Mieux.

The set will be available at 7 PM EST on Saturday, December 5th (12/05) at the above link.

The first 10 minutes of the set is an improvisation using norns, cheat codes, grid, op-z and op-1. I was actually really happy with how it came out and was my first attempt at trying this. The last 5 minutes I play a single I wrote and arranged using ableton and push 2.

Lots of other cool artists and creatives will be doing studio tours, tutorials and performances as well, be sure to check out the site for more information. There’s even a virtual gallery that will be a part of the event as well.

From the site:
“ART WIRED 2020 is a virtual creators conference, highlighting artists across the globe in various presentations, discussions, tutorials, and process videos.

Every hour or half-hour, for three days, there will be a new video premiering on YouTube or live Instagram stream featuring a different artist showing you their creative process, explaining their techniques, or answering your questions.

Our panels will feature photographers, illustrators, muralists, animators, directors, coaches, and more.

Discover artists you’ve never heard of, learn things you never knew, and be inspired like never before by tuning into Art Wired 2020.“
