Not sure if this is the right thread to post this. But I’m doing a stream on Facebook tomorrow(Sunday).

Since the live event can’t go on due to the virus situation, we’re also live-streaming an event, starting now;

https://stream.vvvvvvaria.org/

Radio on the radio is a live, intermittent radio program with performances that in one way or another discuss radio. It will feature descriptions of radio tools, unboxing and unpacking of radio hardware, radio silences, interviews about radio, radical radio noise, radio-active female monstrosities, repetitive radio dialing, relaxation on the radio waves and much more radio.

Program (But might change due to the shift to streaming): https://vvvvvvaria.org/en/radio-on-radio.html

We at our studio in Turin (Italy) have decided to face the Coronavirus emergency by putting together a series of online audio-video live streaming concerts and taking part to the fundraising campaign to support local hospitals and institutions.
We made a landing page to ease both donations and streaming process.

We’re putting a lot of effort in doing this at our best and trying to help the community via our profession.

First streaming is scheduled for today at 6:00pm CET with Boston 168 - you can find detailed informations about the whole project here.

did some testing to see how this whole Facebook streaming works. It is, thankfully, fully possible for someone without a Facebook profile to watch your stream as long as you stream it from a public page.

I’m struggling setting up OBS streaming software to listen to my external soundcard (RME UCX) on Mac.
I add an audio input source, I select the UCX, but no sound in. There’s no place to chose which input is used, by the way. Any experience with it ?

thanks for sharing! Looking forward to chatting with people afterwards too

That is a bit of a limitation. I am also learning to use OBS now since I have to take all my teaching online so I am no expert. Try using Jack to get more flexibility with audio routing.

Here is a link to some info on how to do that: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/advanced-audio-capture-mac-os-x.142/

Thanks. I went a bit crazy yesterday trying to set it up with jack.
I’ll be using Facebook Live I guess, it could be straightforward (no OBS needed) but the output seems to be mono. Can anyone confirm this ?

I’ve streamed myself playing music several times. First through Discord and later through OBS to Twitch.
Discord has, or at least had at the time, very bad audio quality. There might be options for setting higher quality if you have a paid account but I found it insufficient for music.
Twitch, in my experience, has sound quality comparable to music streaming services. It works really well. I found OBS painless to set up, although it is definitely more complex than just making a conference call.

Regarding @reallyok’s question about streaming multiple people, I’ve never tried it but it looks like the recommended method is to set up an RTMP server which participants can stream to, which then streams to your service of choice.
There are a lot of tutorials on setting this up online.
My understanding is that if you want to avoid things like Twitch or YouTube and still want to use OBS, you would likely need to set one of these up anyway.

I haven’t tried this yet so I may have a lot of details wrong but I’m likely to experiment with it and I’ll report back if I do anything with it.
