Hey everyone, inspired by the leaving records stream I attended last weekend, I’ll be having a go for the first time on twitch this sunday. I’ll be performing some ambient synth music and playing a few tracks that will be released on my next album, endless…will be going between 1-2pm EDT. You can follow (/friend/subscribe? not entirely sure what the difference in these things are on twitch at the current moment) me here if you’d like to be notified of this and future streams.

Here’s a poster I made with markers and pen:

Will most definitely watch! Would love to try and do split gigs over twitch sometime in the future.

Also, anyone who is using OBS, I can highly recommend the OBS Camera app for the iPhone. Great way to get a camera(or more! I’m using 2 on my next stream) going for you. Hassle free setup as well.

Sweet, camera setup is today’s goal and obs.camera seems like it’ll be perfect based on what you and @robinrimbaud were saying.

Last night was figuring out audio with OBS. Ended up using Jackpilot and was able to get the monitor feed from UAD Console into the OBS input…which is great because it will allow me to monitor myself/voice/etc in near zero latency. I should be able to run things into Ableton for separating synth from voice for recording too.

Excellent - well done! I found that the OBS Camera App made everything so much simpler. One of those moments where you question whether to spend that little bit of cash or not but it was much cheaper than buying an entirely new webcam too

Have fun then!

Myself and a handful of others are broadcasting music, 20 minute sets each, on zoom tonight. Probably a mix of genres but centered on weird.

Things start at 8pm (NYC time)
I play at 9pm (roughly)
I’m told this is the link.

Cheers and be well

I used an IK Multimedia iRig Stream for the first time last night to do an IG Live performance, and it worked wonderfully. Just documenting that here in case anyone was looking for an ios solution.

just a reminder that I’m live streaming an ambient sent set at 1:00pm EDT (in about 40 minutes). In the meantime I’ve got a playlist of ureleased music going at https://www.twitch.tv/midcenturymodular

Had way too much fun with the scroll filter on OBS last night (inspired by green-house’s incredible background if any of y’all were at the leaving records stream), my computer couldn’t take it. now, just some tasteful marquee-esque text on the top and bottom hahaha:

Really enjoyable as an early evening wind-down here in the UK, thanks!

loved it!!

people who use OBS, does anyone have a way to foolproof your setup? Just did an improv stream with a lot of technical hiccups. I guess facebooks awful new streaming tool didn’t help. I’m switching to Twitch in hopes of greener pastures.

Short but sweet! Really enjoyed your show!

I used it as the engine for YouTube with no problems at all. At least then you can do a Private or Unlisted performance for a friend and test it out before sharing it with an audience! Good luck!

yeah, I might have gone a bit overboard with 2 cameras + gfx as well.

the whole stream is up here if anyone wants to have a look(some major audio-hiccups as well).

it’s easy to overload obs. encoding video & audio in realtime uses a lot of CPU.

i recommend setting your canvas to 1280x720 and frame-rate to 24fps to reduce the workload.
you can also reduce the video bitrate if your internet connection is spotty. plug in to the router directly with ethernet if possible.

@noiserock @papernoise thank y’all for checking it out! And @noiserock thanks for sharing a recording, I’ll check it out tomorrow, got busy when you did your livestream.

One camera and a handful of image sources was pretty much all my computer could take, I had never seen it go as slow as it was going when I was loading it the night before the stream. I’m curious if the windows version is more optimized than the Mac (or if maybe the gaming rigs typical of twitch streaming with the very powerful graphics cards help make things smoother).

Anyways, I uploaded the audio for the set here if anyone wants to check it out:

And here’s the crow script I used if anyone wants to mess around with a generative 2-voice sequencer:

Idea: Is anyone up for curating/hosting a «lines fest»(name not final!!) on twitch? I am guessing we could probably fill a day of constant jams, workshops etc from people worldwide.

This thing is not gonna blow over anytime soon, especially for events that gather people, so why not give it a try? It might be a megalomaniacal idea, but I am just so inspired by the @LEAVING_RECORDS events and the community they gather.

not having the capacity to host something like this, but I just wanted to express my utmost enthusiasm for such a thing!

I don’t have the capacity to do it all by myself either. But I think if we split up the responsibilities between a couple of people I think it is totally doable.

I don’t have a Twitch account, and not sure how the thing works (that UI… my eyes!), but would be willing to learn and / or help with anything. I totally relate to this, also felt really inspired by the @LEAVING_RECORDS stream!
