It’s Café OTO’s birthday party this Sunday:

Not sure if this thread is the right place for this, so feel free to point me in the right direction.

As the Revision demo party couldn’t happen as planned because of the current situation, the orga team decided to make it an online event instead of cancelling it. The online event started yesterday and is being streamed on twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/revisionparty

The orga team really made the best of the current situation. There are the usual demo, music and graphics compos, of course, but they also took the seminars, the shader showdown (live coding), DJ sets and even the traditional 5k run online.

Here’s the time table for the whole event: https://2020.revision-party.net/events/timetable (times are in CEST).

Setup b/w precarious “camera” placement for my livestream at 1pm eastern.

Some like to work with a tripod, but you can’t beat the charm of a DIY unipod.

(Spoiler: you can if you have a camera and tripod)

I’m having lots of fun with this. As I’m improvising and trying to bring in samples, field recordings and synth lines to sound melodious I need to work a little on cueing sounds a bit more but it feels good to work on a project in this way.
Even after lockdown ends I’d hope to maintain my streams as an adjunct to occasional live shows.

Can I ask those who have experience of several platforms, what are the pros and cons of moving away from Youtube and towards something else?

I tried to do a livestream last night on Facebook, using OBS, which I’ve used a lot for making videos, but only a couple of times for streaming. I ran into the 2-channel limitation, which unfortunately I only discovered after the fact as I was monitoring through the room speakers rather than the computer’s.

So it ended up far more minimal and techno-shaped than expected (or heard at the time), but not too terrible for a first outing; I’ll just have to do it all again at some point, now that I’ve figured out how to route the second mixer into the first…

Myself and some Seattle friends (including @PacificNorthWes) have been doing weekly low-key jams Fridays from 7pm Pacific Time – it’s been a lot of fun! We’ll be live again this evening:

Usually we just start on one person’s channel then raid our way round to others…

Just wondering if anyone knows how to stream an Instagram live “split screen” video with an external audio interface?
I can stream a normal Instagram live video with my Zoom H5 or Roland go:mixer fine, but as soon as I add a second person to my stream or I get added to someone’s stream it cuts out my external interface. Any ideas?

It is very tempting to start thinking “this has to be perfect” etc but then you only have no or a couple of viewers. I think the trick is to keep doing it - find out what works for you. Try out different things .

I’ve been doing it to prepare for actually playing live (something I promised myself I would try and do this year) and I’ve been trying to do a short stream every other day and it’s interesting how my practice is evolving (and my confidence is growing). My current focus is to play longer - but this morning it turns out I’m the only person in the house expected to answer the door rolls eyes

& while I’m here - quick plug - was pleased with this mornings session. Have brought teletype into the mix

I’m releasing a new album in May on Wow and Flutter and was thinking it would be nice to have a live stream in which I’d play the album from cassette, chat about it, have some visuals on the background and also get Greg from W&F join in if possible. I assume Streamlabs OBS would be an easy-ish solution for a streaming novice such as myself. How would one approach setting up a stream where someone joins from another location?

Any pointers and help would be very much appreciated. Also, can’t wait to share some new music with you :black_heart:

A great project i was able to contribute two drones. Its called „Drown the virus“ and its a platform where several artists made either a drone or beat in the lenght of 1 hour.

http://www.drownthevirus.com

All drones and beats are freely downloadable and usable. And more will be uploaded in the next days/weeks.

enjoy, create, stay safe!

Isn’tses are performing at this “Communal Orchestra Viral Improvisation Day” tomorrow:

Impromptu stream tonight starting in 10ish minutes!

Also less impromptu streams happening on this Saturday for the Basilica 24 Hour Drone, and the Saturday May 8th for a local Nashville ambient stream.

This Saturday I play at 5pm EST. Unsure on time slots for the May stream.

not exactly a live streaming show, but last november my band did a short one-off tour as a 10 piece (we’re usually a duo), and the concert film we shot on that run premiered tonight and is now up on youtube:
