I took a week off from my day job (making an album of songs) in June and recorded six improvisations, one a day, all based around chance, all based around the Ieaskul F. Mobenthey Dunst module. I knew from previous explorations that it could generate evolving rhythms and worked well when feeding back on itself. Four of the recordings worked well to my ear, and while it wasn’t my intention to release them, with the encouragement of my trusted producer, Chris Hughes, I’ve decided to do so. This is the exact opposite to most of my albums which usually come from years of composing and recording. All tracks were recorded live to stereo, the sound source is my modular synth, leaning heavily towards the Make Noise case, there’s DPO, Morphagene and Mimeophon on all of the pieces, with a few external delays and reverbs.
I reached out to my artist friend Samantha Keely Smith for the artwork and she kindly allowed me to use 4 paintings from her Aerial series. https://samanthakeelysmith.com/aerial

Joy, Lloyd! - I love your electronic work immensely and have had many times in my life where I’ve been positively changed by many of your vocal albums. (Rattlesnakes, of course, and tons of albums forward)
Cheers on all of it, I’ll look forward to checking this out.
very nice stuff. my favorite part of what I’ve heard is the occasional erosion on the powerful melodic plucks…it gives that sound a feeling like it is alive a bit.
lloyd… is this the mark miller from the northampton/amherst area that had an industrial project called Out Out? he and i were friends back in the day, tell him hi from taylor for me!
great work with the Dunst… and have really enjoyed everything you’ve done since the old days.
Lovely work Lloyd. I really enjoyed it. Making music generated around noise is something I have always been interested in. My favourite bits were when you veered away from the path. This stuff is a lot more open, I love the improvisations and this works. Hats off to Chris Hughes for encouraging you to release it.
What a nice surprise to hear you on the radio this morning @lloydcole with a shout out to lines and Sylvan Esso! Available here for anyone that can listen to BBC. 6Music is a real treat.
