This is an issue I’m currently facing and I’m definitely interested in these solutions, but seeing the cost I wonder:
Why not just get another computer (mini pc or mac mini)?
An old mac mini with 3 screen outputs can go for very little money used, compared with the hardware above.
If there’s any synchrony needed, It’s very easy to achieve it by using something like TouchDesigner as player or just signal router and an ethernet cable between the computers. Potential latency can even be compensated, IME cabled OSC has negligible latency for just a playback ping. Getting extra HDMI outputs is just a matter of affordable dongles then.
If there’s something else I’m not considering I’d like to know, still seems like the best affordable solution to get extra video outputs. This is my plan for an upcoming installation, so far I’ve tested the players on sync without all the outputs (still have to get access to 7 screens) and looks good. Let’s see how that turns out.
