Slightly different implementation, but have you checked out this?

Thank you diquiet. I know Automaton and loved it too. But I#m looking for a Monome M4L version of Game of Life. I thought I saw one in the old forum but can’t find it. Maybe I’m blind. I’ll keep on looking.
